  1. I'm only a secondary Canucks fan, so I don't know. But it just doesn't seem realistic that Vancouver would completely tear it down, at least not quite yet. In a season or two? Maybe. Just seems a tad too early to pull the plug. Seems like they're a good defenseman and another Horvat-like player away from being right where they were last year. They just don't seem to be quite as complete as they were last year, seemingly.

But hey, maybe I'm dead wrong?

  2. Anyone who really watched could see there was an issue with this team as early as mid-December of 2023. After the all-star break, they were mediocre.

Demko made this team look a lot better than they were.

Miller, for all the "you win with him" rhetoric, hrs never actually won anything

  3. I’m not sure a total rebuild is necessary. I do believe that this “core” is deeply flawed. If you consider that Boeser, Miller, Pettersson, Hughes and Demko have been together through 3 coaches with limited success ( except last season ), then I think it’s fair to say that some corrective action is necessary. Obviously, no one can have any issues with Hughes, but the others are all worthy of consideration. It’s management’s job to evaluate these players and determine how best to retool the roster without just trading everyone. There’s talent there, it’s just a bad combination. I would hope that Hughes would be ok with taking a step back for a year or two in order to legitimately contend for a cup. If not, then I guess a total rebuild is in the works.

  4. I'll be honest, as much as this core is flawed, this is the core mgmnt and ownership put together. Its their job to find the coaches to get the best out of them. You do not blow up a core unless you have a new core coming up. If you take away the players ability to succeed, the failure is on you.

  5. First step is still trade Miller, get what you can get for him, then give the team a month to see how the remaining core responds. If they turn it up and go on a major heater, then bring in a new 2C, and a legit 2D to play with Soucy, to back them up. If they continue to falter with inconsistent play and blown leads, then yeah, time to move more core players, like Boesser, and maybe Demko and to a big retool. maybe consider moving Pettersson in the off season when you can get more for him then mid season rush deals. But the crux is moving Miller before too many games have passed. What else needs to be done all falls into place once Miller is off the team and they can at least try and focus on getting back to Tocchett's system again. We really can't know what this core can do while they're all being rattled by all this drama. It can't not be affecting them all severely, and Brock Boesser and Pious Suter share a line with Miller normally, so having their centre being checked out means they're basically playing 4.5 on 5 3very shift, and that has to be wearing them down hard. We'd be better off moving Suter to the centre position and putting a young gun like Lekerimaki on the wings then having a checked out Miller being half a player and tanking his trade value more and more with each passing game. They can't afford to wait to the deadline, let alone the off season, they need to do the move while they still have a month to evaluate how removing Miller affected the team and decide what the next move should be – a retool, or finding talent to fill holes and going for it.

  6. kind screwed up that this team is playing like crap and still only a few points out of a wildcard. I think when they are 'on' they are the teams that controlled florida and colorado earlier in the year .

another problem that doesn't seem to get about enough IMO, is the regression into the same bad habits , some you could argue have gone back to the early 2010s. leaving goalies out to dry , making too many cute passes , not correctly boxing out , dumping the puck in with no one to win a battle ( although this last one i still like better than a cute pass at the blue line that ends up in an odd man rush the other way, the way it used to happen). I think guys need to realize that they need to be cognizant of these at all times and actively not do them . Hockey, to a degree , is like chess. There are winning formulas for how to play as proven by most cup winners that play that way , its a little sterilized but who cares.

I believe the way coach wants them to play is correct ( hard on board battles, box out , make a SMART play with the puck , a few quick passes and then shoot the puck, play fast ) this team slows down too much , its almost like they subconsciously want to play that way . Maybe its because they played kind of like that under travis greene when this core was first assembled .

I think where the problem hits the coaches is not getting the players to pull their heads out of their backsides.

the management seems like they tried to address the lack of scoring in the playoffs last …by getting Jake debrusk and some third liner. Then adressing the defence by pulling a Jim benning special and getting some bottom pairing guys for an "upgrade". Lets face it, alot of the scoring issues were due to the 1-2-2 system they played to protect arty , and peety being in a massive slump . Although, if the top two centres were adults who executed their jobs and tuned out the noise, and demko was back to his old self , alot of these holes wouldn't be talked about near as much because the team would win alot more IMO

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

  7. Now that we have a healthy replacement for Demko (Lankanen) and a decent enough backup ( Silovs) it would make sense to trade Demko before he gets hurt again. trade Miller for a 2D and a pick. Keep the rest.

  8. Career years doesnt mean itll be replicated weve seen some of the best fall offf might as well move on from it all and rebuild hope they dont trade Hughes love the guy to much but if he wants to leave let him be happy

  9. There’s no doubt that the Canucks have major issues but also that just keeping the core together hasn’t helped matters either, with last season likely to remain an anomaly for as long as this core stays pretty much as it is.

  10. If they trade miller and Petey expect Quinn to be gone as well. This whole thing will be blown up

  11. Every Canadian team that loses to the Oilers in the playoffs get blown up the next year. Weird.

  12. New Jersey has 14m coming off the books the summer Quinn hits UFA, not to mention the increase in cap that will happen. It is inevitable now.

  13. The fact that EP is getting skinnier every game is enough to tell me you have to get rid of him before you can’t. He’s going to be the next Loui Erickson if he’s even healthy enough to play that long. Let him go be another team’s problem.

  14. I’ve been a Canucks fan since I was a kid. Almost 30 years. If they destroy the core I think that’s it.. I’m done with the Canucks and the NHL all together. I see people say that all the time, but I’d never forgive the management team. I actually think that Aquilini should step in. Never thought I’d say that.

  15. Trade pettersson to buffalo and try to get cozens and byram. Pettersson needs out. Hes a genZ pre Madonna thats addicted to video games. If boeser doesnt wanna sign for less then 8 per , trade him also. Gather a 1st rounder for him to someone in the east. If rantanen tests the market throw 15 million per year at him. Miller isnt the problem. Its the passive aggressive litte princess pettersson who needed to be the highest paid swedish player.

  16. Trade demko, miller, and don’t be silly keep Peterson, you cannot trade Peterson for a poor start to this season. Remember lindens second year. Come on people the canucks have a history of pathetic trades. Maybe the coach should be in the crosshairs.

  17. Canuks finding out the hard way what Calgary also found out the hard way with American players. Americans are the most selfish people on the planet, bunch of pre Madonna's. Look at Edmonton, Mostly Canadians and Europeans. Teams used to be scared of Russians but drafting or signing Americans is far more risky now.

  18. I'm okay with trading all of them. Rutherford and Allvin have seen enough of mediocrity at best. Especially when it comes to EP40. At 11.6 you are suppose to put the team on your shoulders most games…not pick up easy second assists and score once every 5 games
