Brad Marchand has rightfully earned the title “rat” during his NHL career with fair share of spears, elbows, slew foots and even licking guys. Nick Cousins however, has seemingly taken that title in recent years to some extent. Well tonight, as the Boston Bruins welcomed the Ottawa Senators, we got rat on rat action when Marchand put his hands on Cousins. A chock in a game is something I can’t say I’ve seen before. The crazy part, is that it wasn’t a penalty which I thought was odd. As for the game, Korpisalo facing his former team had a great night. I cover it all more in todays NHL hockey video!

I'm not sure about the NHL but in most hockey rule books the linesmen cannot call minor penalties. The way around that would be discussion to hear if one of the ref's saw it as well. I share your ambivalence regarding Marchand. He's an amazingly talented offensive player, but has the small man thing going with dirty stuff routinely before hits. I'm a little disappointed the way his team has underperformed compared to when he didn't wear the C. Leadership skills require more than dirty plays, talented individual effort, and mucking between whistles.
I am sorry, but the Florida Panthers are able to out-rat Marchand…which is a big reason why the Bruins got their asses handed to them last year, in my opinion. If the your legendary rat is being out-ratted by no-name rats, your team has issues.

Cousin's 'WTF are you doing?" reaction was the highlight. If Cousins retaliated in anyway there would have been penalties to both players but its Cousin not taking the bait that keeps this at ho hum.

That’s a different level of threat. That’s not hockey, that’s abuse. And many people suffer through being “ strangled” in abusive relationships and there’s a saying “ if a man’s going to put hands on your throat in anger, he doesn’t want to hurt you, he wants to kill you”. Not saying Marchand wants to kill Cousins but that type of behaviour ( unless consensual between two adults) is troubling behaviour. Choking is when you get food stuck in your throat, having hands on it is strangling someone. I know semantics but, again, disturbing behaviour from such a public figure on camera.

marchand is an embarrassment to the nhl with all of his cheap shots he should be gone from the nhl a long time ago. The nhl has been VERY LUCKY that this ASSHOLE has not hurt other players more than he has. Time to get him out of the JOKE that is the nhl.

Well Burroughs from the Canucks got away with bitting Bergerons finger a few years back in the finals and there was video proof of it so I'm glad the league didn't suspended marchand for pretending to be the undertaker and choke slamming that guy
