NO because isles may not miss 8's somewhat weak play and shoddy d. Like it matters at this point. Injuries or not isles are not a playoff caliber team and may boost isles lottery position. Louzer can't go out and bring in a d man with no cap space and ahl b'port lacks top d men to step in.
And latest is caps have interest in 29. Would louzer deal 29 within division? First, current spit i. protas (30g, 40a, 39 games. 3rd ohl scoring), and piece for 29. Caps may go all out to win one more cup to celebrate ovi. Then deal 21 for a second, prospect or player. Protas, first, second, 2 prospects or prospect/player would be a great haul for 29, 21.
And so far rags, wings have w, flyers, bj's sens, habs L, pens losing so isles are still 7 pts. out of w c with 7 teams to pass. And word is bettman will step down within two years-YEE HAW. Too bad louzer and bettman wont resign together asap. nhl and isles would be better off without both of them.
Whether or Not the Islanders make the playoffs has nothing to do with Noah Dobson being in the lineup. Facts are that Dobson's 24 points is barely cracking the top 30 among NHL d-man starters and his minus 8 puts him amongst the worst. At this point it should be clear to ownership that there will not be any post season revenue to look forward to and they should instruct Methusaleh to start making calls to turn the Islanders into a hockey team that fans want to go and see. Star Wars night on Friday and Malkin should use the force to find another GM!😊
Gil,you say ad nauseum that the Islanders need to get younger,faster, and more skilled, and I agree with you wholeheartedly.
But I've been saying ad nauseum that this should've been done 2 or 3 years ago.
But until Lou Lamarello either changes his way of thinking and starts retooling by the trade deadline or Ledecky and Malkin need to say goodbye to Lou and bring in a GM that knows how to bulid a championship caliber team and farm system.
We will be in this same old rut for who knows how long.

Schaefer has now been deemed the number one overall draft pick for 2025. If I’m the Islanders GM, I’m doing everything in my power to get that pick! Get as many number one overall draft picks as you can by trading your Mötley Crüe. Rumor has it Lou will not be back next year that remains to be seen. The Islanders don't have the talent to make the run for the playoffs, but even if they do by some miracle make it to post season, realistically, they are a one and done type of team. Of course, their opponent can have a complete collapse, but will that happen four times? Not very likely. Looking forward to this game against the Flyers. We need to play with heart, smarts and speed. I think we can take this one. However, I have been wrong before, and I'm pretty sure I'll be wrong at some point again. I think these owners are far more interested in that village they built than hockey. The Isles losing money will probably some tax dodge for them.
Our transition from D to O is going to suffer greatly. Dobson is the best defensive skater on team. Relying on P&P, mayfield, Romy to step up and fill in those missing minutes is going to look ugly very quick.
Gm Gil. The playoffs are nothing more than a cash grab for ownership. The team is not a contender but playing and getting eliminated in the first round is still a profit center. As a bottom 5 team this team doesn't play defense most of the time so I don't expect him to be missed. This could be a good thing to convince management NOT to sign him to an extension. He is not growing and maturing as an Islander… when i hear you say 'Good news', good news would be 1) Lou has been fired 2) the team has been sold 3) contracts have been bought out.

Thay played a great game against the Flyers, Sorokin was superb! Bo and Nelson had great games and hats off to the D allowing only 1 goal. Big game tonight on the back to back. LGI
