I thought it was impossible to trade an IMO top 5-6 player in the league. SMH….
Absolutely livid at this one, I've just flown from Scotland to New York to see the avs live for the first time only to find out that mikko won't be in the game cause he got traded. Unless we manage to trade for sid before we play the rangers I'm gutted

Ypu just CAN NOT build a hockey team like a Nba team, first you cant allot 39 mill between 3 players and expect to have depth and second, center depth is more important than wingers. Our 2c position is set in stone now. Everyone said Florida was braindead for trading Huberdeau AND Weeger for Tkachuk yet look where those players and teams are. Lets just be patient and see how this looks a year and a half down the road, hockey isnt all talent, chemistry and fit are way more important than talent
The Avs couldn't afford him. Having 2 capable forwards isn't sufficient. There's more moves coming.
I am gutted. This is the kind of thing that gives you a temp check of the office, and this tells me that they don't believe this team can have continued success with Mikko. I know you can't let him walk, but you have to get more for a player of that caliber. This is a bad trade, and other moves dont change this fact. CMac has about a month to save his job because as is you have to fire him

Pretty surreal trade. My only thought was maybe landeskog is really close to coming back and the fact that you were not going to be able to afford mikko. Super bummed but maybe a shakeup is what the team needs to get it in gear. Hopefully Necas plugs right in and plays well🤞🏼
The only good thing I see coming from this trade is that the boneheaded penalties from rantenan are gone. Don’t know if it’s worth it but we will see

Wow. This hurts me horribly. #96 has been my favorite player for the longest time. It’s going to be bittersweet but I’m glad he’s at least going to the canes which is a great team. He’ll definitely shine. Just not looking forward to seeing the avs play against him! Best of luck Moose!
17:22 Landeskog travelling with the team is interesting but I also wonder if it could be that the team needs its captain rn, even if it’s just for travel. They’ve been visibly struggling with identity issues and leadership and last season Landy went on that roadie with the team when they were going through their worst slump so that’s what I’m basing this on :’)

Landeskog has honestly held up this team. And is unmovable. Nikuchkin then really destroyed the team worse. So with all that money there was ZERO shot they could pay Mikko Nate money. Its just not possible. Not unless the rest of the roster are minor league hockey players. This is just business.

To be fair Mac did a solid for the team for steal and if MIko wanted another cup idk why he would not do the same just shows u something was happening off the ice. i understand that agents are not players but they can get bent.
Can't pay 3 players 40% cap space. Mikko is a tier 2 player… Can't give him top dollar. It would cripple depth in bottom 6.
This was a good move. Sorry, but it was. Love Mikko, will miss him, but I'm excited to be able to get depth. You can't win the Cup with that many max contracts. Excited to see this new team.

i feel like this deal was coming awhile ago and thats why mikkos has been phoning it in last week and a half 🙁 , and like a another guy said welp that will change up the pp lmao but cant pay mikko 14 mil when we have to resign cale for the rest of his life ,hey maybe we can get crosby if pitts retains alot of his salary .
Keep an eye on the Avs also adding someone else. Interesting what I'm hearing all over the web on Miller in Vancouver tonight. It looks like he's saying he's done playing there. Now I'm not saying it will be Miller, but the Avs now have two second round picks for next year, they can use in a trade with a player for someone. I agree with Shaggy on the locker room situation. Everyone has been saying even Mikko himself, hasn't looked like Mikko over the last three to four games. So I wonder what was brewing behind the scenes.
