  1. I dont understand how in today's NHL people still undervalue low draft picks. Your still getting the speed and a player you can mold into your play style.

I think they completely rebuild and let go of every good enough player to get them a 5th or higher and start a major rebuild into a new Pens era. Easier said than done, but worth a shot.

Like they said selling Guentzel was the beginning of a rebuild and its time, its been time

  2. It is funny how in love Adam was with Dubas until he left and now he blames him for things that are not even true.
On the Letang front, hes still a #1 d man playing like 24 min a noght, gets around 50pts/yr and plays all situations, is right handed and makes less than Ristolinen…ya that is such a "horrible" contract…. =op

  3. Fire sale? Well you have to something of value. Between poor value contracts and NTCs….good luck in trading anyone.

  4. They won’t do a fire sale. The Pens are like those late year Sundin Leaf teams that would battle hard every season to finish 9th or 10th and miss out on a better draft pick.

  5. Besides Crosby, who's gonna give you value for old core pieces with a big cap hit like Malkin and Letang, or Karlsson and Jarry who are either making too much or underperforming on their contracts.

Crosby might fetch you a 1st rounder plus a top prospect and another lower draft pick…

  6. "What are they doing?"

An educated hockey fan will see that they are paying the price for winning three Stanley Cups, and doing what they can to win with the core of those cups that is unable to win anymore because they are old.

Not that I'd expect a Toronto fan to understand that. The franchise that has never won a Stanley Cup that matters. But hey at least they aren't in cap trouble or anything.

  7. As a fan myself, I’m tired of seeing them delay the inevitable. I don’t care that they are four points out of a playoff spot. Even if they make it, it is a guaranteed first round exit.

I would rather see them, take initiative and start retooling at the LEAST. but rebuilding is probably best because unlike the capitals, we did not have a strong prospect pool.

  8. Only someone who loathes hockey, and especially the Penguins, would suggest they trade their two best players: Crosby and Rakell. That person also would not understand business; you don’t give up your two best assets if you want to stay in business. You want to see a franchise tank itself quickly; trade Crosby. Unless he wants to go somewhere else, and let’s admit it even for the haters ALL the other teams would want him, he should be a Penguin as long as he wants to play. The majority of people buying tickets and merch and watching the Crosby and the Penguins are watching for Sid, and many of those want to watch the trio.

There’s more to hockey than the cup. Too many focus on the destination and not the journey. Regular season lasts so much longer than the playoffs. Every year only half the league makes it to the first round. Only one team wins it. Fact is most hockey players, even those in the NHL, will not win a cup. Playing in the NHL is the goal, winning the cup is the ultimate bonus.

No they shouldn’t have a fire sale. They should work on changing out players more with prospects to see how they work with the team.

  9. Cant do a fire sale when all your top players are past 35. Crosby might get you a first rounder and a prospect at this point, and I dont see Letang or Malkin even getting that. Youd probably have to eat part of Karlsson's contract at this point and would be lucky to get any assets back considering he's a complete defensive liability and a shell of himself offensively. Its going to be a long and painful rebuild for this team.

  10. Trade Rakell and Marcus Pettersson for Trevor Zegras.
Trade Crosby, a 2nd, and Ryan Graves for Elias Pettersson, a 1st, Nils Hoglander, and Jett Woo. EP is our new 1C.
Trade Malkin 50% retained to the Caps for Cole Hutson or the Jets for Brayden Yager.
Trade Rakell to the Oilers for Jeff Skinner and Matthew Savoie. FIRE SALE!!!!!
Trade Crosby, Drew O'Connor, Anthony Beauvillier, and Marcus Petterson for Lekkerimaki, Elias Pettersson dman, Tom Willander, Nils Hoglander, Vincent Desharnais, and Brock Boeser.
    Rutger McGroarty for Trevor Zegras.
Trade Letang and XX? for Arber Xhekaj and a contract like Josh Anderson or Brendan Gallagher.
Jarry 50% retained for Rasmus Risolainen.
Rakell for Dylan Cozens. TRADE THEM ALL.
FIRE SALE NOW. REBUILD AND TANK FOR GAVIN MCKENNA AND LANDON DUPONT.

  11. Pittsburgh has a coaching problem. Players seem to do better after they leave. Granlund is a great example.

Previously there was a GM problem. Most 1st round picks and NHL level prospects like Gustavvson… Rutherford and Hextall really made some terrible trades.

  12. No it's not a fire sale if you can't get rid of your big contracts and/or the guys that are keeping you a little competitive. You want assets and you want to bottom out.

  13. There won’t b a fire sale. They will trade pettersson and others but I don’t think they will blow up even if they should
