The Nashville Predators are coming off of a franchise comeback win, but there are still questions about the defense that need answering. On today’s show we take a closer look at the short sample size from newly acquired defenseman Justin Barron. We discuss why trading Alexandre Carrier to the Montreal Canadiens may not look like a good move but could have importance away from the ice for the Predators. We also look ahead to tonight’s rematch with the San Jose Sharks who will likely start former Predator goaltender Yaroslav Askarov in net.     Idk it’s not like a teamed never had like a 16 game point streak to get them in the playoffs before but it’s also the 2024-25 Preds so

    What issues are we seeing with Justin Barron? I haven't been able to watch any of his starts. Is he out of position? Decision making is poor? Decision making is not quick enough? Turning it over in D-zone? Not working well goalie and LD?

    I was impressed with the Preds comeback win on Tuesday, and I would say it's a dichotomy of our season. San Jose has some major skill and defensively we let Celebrini and our old pal Mikael Granlund do what they want—but once we locked in and started grinding and sticking to these guys on the forecheck it got better (you can't let these young skill dudes free reign to get off whatever shot they want). Anyone that says this team is checked out I present what happened in the "greatest comeback in franchise history", I am inclined to believe that this defensive problem is what really needs to be looked at going forward (this team can score goals that's proven). I have to say we need to reevaluate our defense. Roman is so involved in the offense and on the rush I just have to ask…where is Brady Skjei? You can criticize Marchy and Stammer but are we getting all we need from Mr. Skjei? Justin Barron has some potential and certainly has given us some pop. I was extremely impressed with Fedor Svechkov. That dude has been showing out a ton. Justin Barron listen Montreal gave up on him—so it's his time to step up….this is Justin Barron time the 2nd half of the year. He was a first rounder by the Avalanche—show Preds management you want to be a part of the solution. This is his 3RD team! Justin needs to work on defense and get it worked out…this is his time to learn from Brady or Roman….he needs to get there for this team to take a step OR we need to find out what someone else can do (AND Tanner Molendyk). As far as the draft, I agree with Trotz—don't tank on purpose but they do need to go all out and play to win. A losing culture is a stink that is hard to wash off! This team has way too much pride and too many veterans that will not allow that to happen! We need to look for a sold young defenseman (preferably right shot but offense is not necessarily needed). Great job Anne and Emma! Do you guys still have your text thing?

    I don’t think that this is going to be a trap game, the predators should feel fortunate to have won the last game. Expect more focus and adjustments tonight. Can Soros get back to his game?

    I’m enjoying the podcasts. However you don’t mention that the Predators had the most difficult first half schedule of all the league. Now they had the easiest!

    Barron's game has to grow to his body, looks like a baby giraffe out there at times, but high ceiling and a lot of potential. Blankenburg could be the next Josi, really got the moves. Svech is gonna be a stud too. Future could be very bright if they all reach their potential and don't settle in at 3rd & 4th liners like many of our recent prospects.
