The Winnipeg Jets have openly admitted to having interest in the once great Jonathon Toews. I can see why a lot of people think this is a great idea, but I explain why I disagree.

Ridiculous L take, he’s not 39 and he’s not close to 39 and the 2010 thing is just fucking stupid, does everyone mention 2010 with Kane?
He’s going to be 37 this year, not 39.
he’s an amazing voice to have in a playoff locker room, kinda what the jets need rn
Never liked him and still don't, can't really say why. He might be a 4th liner now but defiantly too slow.
Bad take. We'd be lucky to have a Stanley Cup champion in the room. Even if his ceiling is a 4th line center he knows how to win. The 2010 thing is a stretch too.
He may be a version of Corey Perry. At an entry level deal if we have the cap why not? Doesn’t have to be in the lineup either. Give the man a 2 way entry level contract. Will be a great mentor for prospects.
In his last season he was top 5 in the league in faceoff percentage if i remember correctly and played on a terrible team. He had 15 goals and 16 assists in only 53 games and was dealing with the effects of his illnesses. How could you say this guy had a bad season in his final season when he was over half a point a game and top 5 in faceoffs? He won 63.1% of his faceoffs!
We just got the locker room ego's in check.
The Kyle Beach situation was terrible. It should never have happened and the punishments handed out will never be enough. I think that we shouldn’t paint everyone on that team with the same brush. Don’t know who knew what and don’t know those who did know that what their mindset was. No excuses for any of them but without proof I think we should be looking to give people the benefit of the doubt. If it comes out that they knew, throw the book at them. But if you don’t know, it’s irresponsible to lay blame based on opinion. Love your content, you’re one of the best out there for the Jets. But this one is a stretch. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but not everyone is entitled to their own facts.
Ok cool but don't be a hypocrite and support hockey Canada when they have a fund for settlements and cover ups if you're going to bring that up.
I always give thumbs up, but I don’t agree with this vid and is far reaching.
People act like Toews and Chevy committed crimes 😂😂
I agree with your comment to bring him in on a PTO. Similar to when the Leafs signed Pacioretty on a PTO. These guys are veteran forwards who understand what it takes to win.
Sign him to the Moose. If he does well there, they can use them as a call up. They should give him a developmental deal if anything, not a main roster contract right off the bat.
If the Jets want to add him, they should do it in the off-season. He probably is still a good player, but he hasn't played in over 2 years and the Jets are already past the midway point of the season. I don't see him getting up to game speed to significantly help the Jets right now. Not to mention, the Jets need to add a bonafide top 6 player that can score. Simply settling for Toews would be the safe option, where this organization again can skate by without spending that much.
Is he not worth an entry level rental position, just as a 4th line center?
people dont seem to realize theres a huge chance toews comes back and literally cant play at the nhl lvl anymore, theres a reason almost every guy in there 30s that sits out a year never comes back
I honestly just follow you to see how absurd your takes are
If we're considering the 2010 Blackhawks, and we should, I would sooner get rid of Chevy than Toews. Chevy has done a mostly good job in Winnipeg, but he had power in Chicago at the time. At very least, it happened on his watch. Toews was a 21 year old. We don't know his role in this, if any. How much power does a 21-22 year old captain really have in the NHL? I'm not willing to paint Toews with the same brush as management without some indication that he did something wrong. I hope Toews talks about the experience more.
Don’t underestimate this man..he’s a winner n there’s no risk..
a PTO with the moose 5-10 games to see if he still has it and get his timing back, done deal.
Pros: 2c/3c possiblity. Stanley cup pedigree. Home town hero. Helps 2nd pp line. Faceoff percentage. Sign him cheap get winger and top 4D. Revitilized?
Cons: old. Uncertain physically. A need for the team realisticlly. Potentially wants higher up lineup/pay. Uncertain play?
Disagree 100%
1. 3 time champion even at worst season put up with illness had 31pts alot of NHLers dont put a season like that whole career. Nevemind cups
2. You know who played 2009-2010 blackhawks Byflugien,Ladd.
Oduya after leaving Jets won 2 cups Chicago.
3. He isnt going be only addition we still would need defence+2nd line center.
Most fans would still take him over Gus,Kupari,Barron or rumors are Perfetti could be added since his long spurts of nothing.
4. Toronto,Tampa,Florida,Vegas,Edmonton all cup contenders have cores and when its there chance to win GM trades for high end help and fills roster with cheap UFA/ELC. No one said anything bad about Thornton,Iginla,Spezza,Marleau,Giordano,Perry,Parise,Staal brothers. Even OEL if your expecting 10.5m dollar toews ofc not going to happen but at 1m/min players can still bring value.
31 points in 53 games seems pretty good for a team that was second last in the league. Also he would sign near league minimum given his situation. Also he's from winnipeg, has donated and celebrated his cup wins in town. Even if he never plays a full season with the team or plays in ahl. I see no downside really?
I’d be happy if we got him – Oilers fan
