The Edmonton Oilers dropped a hard-fought 3-2 decision to the NHL-leading Washington Capitals in their first game without captain Connor McDavid. Despite putting in a strong effort and generating plenty of chances, the Oilers looked a bit lost without their leader, struggling to capitalize when it mattered most.
Stuart Skinner, who’s been reliable this season, didn’t have his sharpest performance, and the team couldn’t quite overcome it. Still, there were some positives to take away—did they do enough to give fans hope they can survive this stretch without McDavid?
