Join Shaun Starr and Marco D’Amico on the reporting from D’Amico and his sources saying the Pittsburgh Penguins are about to have a firesale and unload some talent. Does that mean that Sidney Crosby is on the block and could the Montreal Canadiens really make a play for him?

If Montreal is going for a playoff spot and what to go far they need a rental player on defense. You do not have to spend teh store for one that has experience
Can't see it happening. He's Mr Pittsburgh, and the fans would revolt if he left. He took a home town salary to stay there. Habs don't need an older player right now. They are doing fine.
Jarry is overpaid and underperforming. Pittsburgh will need to keep some top players to sell season tickets. They haven't shown the desire to tank….yet.
Still a lot of pride on the Pens.

Supposedly Crosby was considering Montreal in 2013 free agency but then someone on the habs team told him not come cause of the media. I will love to see Crosby as a hab but he is too old
IMO, leave the blue line as is. If they can add a veteran forward, I’m down, but under no circumstances should they deviate from their plan.
The only thing I feel the Habs need to do right now is find an upgrade for Dvorak. But that's not even an emergency. I see Newhook take that spot next year and Demidov take Newhook's spot on the 2nd line. They also might need help for a 7th dman and 13th fwd, especially if they make the playoffs, but right now I want to see the actual roster fight for that playoff spot until the end, get all that experience and just be better next year.
Nice show as usual! Talking about Right handed D……What do you think about the idea of trying to make a move to go get a guy like Noah Dobson? Islanders are going nowhere right now and he is going to be RFA….. maybe a package including either Mailloux or Rainbacher with some draft picks and maybe a forward prospect (Not Demidov or Hage). That would solidify our D core and give a bit a time to Mailloux or Rainbacher to be more NHL ready. Am i dreaming? lol
It's never gonna happen. But even if it could, it would only make sense for MTL to get him as a free agent. Giving up assets for a vet, even Crosby who's one of the best of all time, is a terrible call, and I have faith in Kent Hughes not making such a bad call. Would be amazing to see Sid in the bleu blanc rouge though.
I'd trade for Crosby today if he's available ,second line centre and move Newhook down
I hope Habs don't make any moves unless it's a younger upgrade. No rentals. I'd keep all pending FA. Try and resign Evans. I'd like to keep Armia but he will probably get a better offer on the market. I assume with the cap spelace Habs will make a splash. I don't know if I want to over pay for a UFA though. Look at some of these July first signings. A lot don't end well. Great show 🍻
A fire sale in Pittsburgh shouldn't be a surprise. Selling off veterans is the only way that team has any chance of being viable for the next decade – Crosby, Malkin, Letang and Karlsson.
But that doesn't mean Montreal is a potential landing spot for any of those guys. It simply isn't consistent with the rebuild and the clear messaging coming from Hughes and Gorton.
As far as Crosby is concerned, the price would be way higher than anything that the Canadiens would (should) be willing to give up for years 38 and 39 of Sid the Kid. As much as it would benefit young players to be around and learn from Crosby, its just not worth it.

Sydney Crosby is an NHL anomaly and absolutely takes Montreal to another level. Ppg player, leadership, Stanley Cup experience, most professional and talented player of our era. Its dependent on what Pittsburgh wants and you dont trade the farm but Pittsburgh management is weak and makes bad decisions. Could be the best thing for the Canadiens
I'd do it in a heartbeat. He has 2 more years after this one. The salary is manageable. First, we need a 2C, or 1B in this case. He's still putting up numbers and I have no doubt he will for another 2 years. But, second, and most importantly, is the experience our young guys would pick up playing with Syd is invaluable. This guy is one of the greatest competitors ever. Hates losing. A tremendous leader.
Can you imagine a line with Laine, Crosby and Demidov. Oh man…
Of course, it's what there asking in return. If they're asking for core guys like someone from the first line, Ghule, or obviously Demidov and Hage, then it's out of the question. But if it's a lower end prospect and draft picks, I say we go for it.

It’s a salary dump for Pitt so they’re not in a bargaining position…

The thing is the habs have too many prospects and they need to package so,e together to get a decent player , myself I would rather get Malkin , he only has 1 year left and his 6.5mil he’s making could be added to the lineup without having to clear cap
Plus Malkin is Russian and would ease the arrival of demidov and maybe even Bogdan next year

A thing is sure Montreal doesn’t the room to integrate a quarter of their prospects, the habs cannot be seller , regardless or where they stand at the deadline
Hage , Roy, Kapanen , Demidov , Beck , Harris these guys are all players that are top 2 line type players , than you have mailloux, Boulet , RHP, Tuch, Xhekaj , Reinbacher , Engstrom , Fowler , Bogdan , volokhin ,Davidson ect ect
Plus they also have another 12 picks this year , anyway you look at it , Montreal have no choice but to be buyers
Armia and Evans need to be signed , so you don’t have to add many players which always kills the chemistry, about TJ Miller? He’s great on faceoff and left handed? The habs are one center and one defenseman away from being and allstar team
Btw please stop mentioning Reinbacher , this guy has never once given anyone reason to believed he was ever good , greatest blunder in draft history . Like who draft a defensive defenseman with their 5th overall when they’ve been starving and desperate for offensive talent for over 30 years 🤦♂🤦♂
Hugues is great but the scouting staff in Montreal is just brutal , they have the record for most picks for the passed 5 seasons and all they have to show for is Hutson and demidov, Hutson was pure luck and they picked demidov in fear that the fans would have had a riot if they didn’t

Asked any gm in the league , including Kent Hugues if they had the choice between Slafkovsky, Mesar and reinbacher or michkov , Lambert and Cooley , they’ll all pick the second group
