DARTS NEWS 13 – Terry Jenkins Retires – Peter Wright – Fake Dart Videos

This week we talk about Terry Jenkins and retirement announcement. We also mention Peter Wright and his new 5 year contract with Red Dragon Darts. The PDC have been uploading full matches to their Youtube channel and I cover some deceptive darts channels.

  1. Terry is to young to retire, Peter will throw every dart the Red dragon will make, the PDC is good, I am still trying to figure out the fake channel and Hillary has subscribed to the applause channel..  🙂

  2. When it comes to the fake or edited darts videos, I have to say that I totally agree with you and I am glad that you blew the whistle on this deception. I know who you talking about and I feel deceived because I was admiring this guy – more for his throwing skills than for his reviews. And I kind of caught myself falling for it because I was paying too much attention to all the 100s and 140s, instead of the actual review.

In my opinion its negligible how good someone is throwing the darts if one reviews darts. Because throwing a dart is such a unique and personal things, that it is nonsense to say "oh, these darts are the best darts ever I am throwing tons after tons after tons… get those darts people… they will make a better player out of you". Okay, that is a little exaggerated but by saying how well they are flying and showing only good throws, you are implying it to people who are not familiar or new to darts.

  3. On the fake videos…I'm no video editing pro, but I'm not seeing any obvious breaks in his vids and I've watched them multiple times looking for editing hints. In the vanquish review he hit 140-80-100-120-60 and I could hear his breathing and shuffling without breaks. They all seemed like reasonable shots. Yeah, the video camera shifts focus at times, but I'm not seeing that to indicate an editing break. Watching the doubles video again, that would take an immense amount of editing for every round, but again, listening to him (I'm cranking the volume way up) there are no breaks that I can detect. Maybe I'm just easily fooled, I dunno.

Nonetheless, I liked and shared his doubles vids because I think they would be good for practice or warm-up. I'm still relatively new to darts (3 years) so everyone is better than me, but I really appreciated someone made a video of those routines.

  4. I heard commentary on a couple of tournaments that discuss the possibility of Jenkins retiring. People have to understand that he has other personal and professional interests and being a world class pro takes up a lot of time and energy. I'd hate to see him press on if he can't give it his all. He's a class act and I wish him all the best.
