  1. as long as monty plays well then no reason not to let him slowly build, he can learn from monty a lot and if he finishes even close to how he started then he may be #1 next season, groom him nicely

  2. Even Caufield didn't get nominated for the Hobey Baker in his Freshmen year !!!!! Micheal Hage is a beast to be Michigan U #1 player & their candidate for the Hobey Baker !!!!!

  3. Hage is so good! I can’t believe they didn’t even consider him for the juniors. Even after the draft and his early play this yr. I’m still mad. How could they be so resistant to logic. But no, they wanted guys who “compete” harder. It’s the fn World juniors! They all compete at their fn highest level!!! What in the actual fuc$. So many mistakes made on so many levels. Even Briere calling them out. Not only did they pick the wrong team.. then they mismanaged them! I feel the same will happen at the 4 nations. It’s actually f’ing bananas that Scheifle and Hyman will be watching at home.. and Cireli and Jarvis and will be playing. When they announced the junior team.. I was kind of in shock. I didn’t understand.. but then thought, ok, they must know more than me about this…maybe I’m missing something.. but no, I was right. They thought McKenna could carry the whole team.. could have added 5-6 game breaker type players who were available. But didn’t… and then they couldn’t score. This was a winnable tournament. And we had the guys who could have won. The U.S weren’t as good as last year. We could have won. Now it’s like Deja vu all over again. Watch Canada crash and burn again I suppose. Oh ya, look at fn Logan Thompson’s numbers this year. Plus he won a cup.. how in the actual fuc& is he not our obvious number 1?????? Anyone????!?? I’ll wait!!!!!!! Ughhhh common sense has been utterly lost by our brass!!!

  4. The Habs future looks so bright with all our prospects! Sometimes coaches make goaltending decisions by who has the best record against certain teams. We do not have much info on Dobes, but we do know that Monty is 2-0-2 vs the Wings. That may be why he gets the nod. I think Hughes may pull another Dach/Newhook type trade and take a young right hand established D-man with picks and a prospect (Mailloux, don't need him if Reinbacher established himself and we pick up a 23-25 year old establish RH D). Great show guys! GO HABS GO!

  5. Monty beat Detroit on back to back nights in mid-late December. He just stole a game vs Tampa. Definitely the right move to start Monty Thursday vs The Wings

  6. No reason to jump the gun on Dobes. He's playing well with the backup position. I don't think it would be smart to right away take away Monty's starting position. He worked hard for it and is still playing well.

  7. Monty starting again is no surprise. There is no goalie controversy. Monty is the No. 1. Fans and media created the "controversy".

  8. Ahoj all,
CAP goin up, Carey contract ending man! You know Kent is ready to spend that money faster that your GF is on your payday….

  9. Josh, you mention holes left by the eventual departure of Dvorak, Armia, and maybe Evans.
I disagree. I would argue that the latter two should remain, and be part of a future contending Habs roster.
I see them both as key elements. Every contending team needs these types of players.
Both Evans & Armia are vets which is important to have on a team.
They both have experience in the Stanley Cup final (vs TB).
They're both excellent defensive forwards, particularly on the PK.
    Both have non-negligible offensive output.
Armia's a beast at winning puck battles against the boards, while Evans is an extremely versatile centreman with good hockey I.Q., who also happens to be good at winning face offs.
Add to that the fact they're both rather inexpensive.
The question to ask is who is going to replace them if we let them go ?
    Seems like a no-brainer to me !!!

  10. While Dobes has impressed all of us in five games, Monty is our number 1. I think Dobes would agree. Starting Monty against Detroit on Thursday evening makes sense. There is plenty of season left for Dobes to gain experience and make contributions to the Habs success. We have a good formula and should not pit these two goalies against each other.

  11. Monty is the no. 1 goalie AND he already beat Detroit twice this year! Dobes is a great prospect, but 5 games doesn't knock out Monty; he CAN help the team and Monty by playing the way he does about every third game…

  12. I think MSL will continue to alternate the goalies until one of them has two bad starts in a row. The playoffs are still a fair way off so as the race for spots tightens, then I'd expect MSL to go with the hot hand. Regarding the NHL increasing the salary cap, that's fine but the league needs to address the imbalance in the difference between CAD to USD by increasing the cap for Canadian teams only to equal the currency disparity. Earning CAD and paying out USD puts Canadian teams at a distinct disadvantage. The simplest way to fix that is through a salary cap formula. Thanks guys.

  13. keep the farm loaded with top talent…..its a cap league, got to have quality to replace players who leave.

  14. Honestly i wouldn't go all out this off season on ufa's or big trades. I'd give a full year of demidov in the line up then the summer of 26' fill the holes and get a big fish via trade or free agency. Then in 26/27 we push for the cup. I think it's a very realistic possibility after seeing what this team has been doing right now. So exciting to be a fan of the habs right now. The last couple seasons seem kinda worth it for what's taking place right now.
