The guys will have to win all three home games coming up if they have any chance for the playoffs. We then have to win at least 2 out 4 on the Western Canada trip.
Coach was more positive about this game than I expected. Something was wrong with them tonight. Mentally, they just don't seem to be in the right place. Offense was painful to watch, lots of guys either trying to do too much or not doing enough. Both are ways of not playing like a team.

Why do you get away from all the good things we were doing during a 7 game win streak come on man I know hockey games can be unpredictable but one things certain is you can always give 100% effort each night and youāll win a hell of a lot more than youāll lose if you do. This roster is capable, I know for a fact theyāre better than teams currently ahead of them which makes this all more disappointing. Not out of it yet though.
Both goalies fought it out,Philly goal was pretty much unstoppable (nice passing and a stellar backhand) I didnāt think the wings would get as many points as they did on this road trip.Iām not giving up on them quite yet,this home stand will reveal a lot. I would like to see these two teams face each other in the playoffs (Probably wonāt happen though)

You need to push these guys like Herb Brooks after this lackluster effort tonight & the last 3 pathetic efforts your team put out! to much old vs new style of play with this team figured a fresh coach new ideas and this team falls on their faces after showing a little promise in the process! š¤·āāļøš¤Ŗš«¤
Todd McLellan randomly deciding to react to Kane making one horrible play at Dallas after 10 games carrying the team by humiliating him and demoting him to 4th line appears to have broken the player again, which will end any hope of not being terrible. The team runs on him or doesn't run really at all. He had 3 plays late in this (1 in the 3rd, 2 in OT) that any time in the last month prior to the Dallas benching, he wins the game for the Wings and is the hero.
When a player runs on confidence and on feeling like a star, and when the team runs on that particular player producing and scoring and making plays and doing big celebrations, maybe don't randomly pick on that player and 'put him in his place' for a random bad play after he's carried you for 3 weeks.
I used to avoid all postgame comments but now I only avoid the players and listen to the coach. Somehow heās got to get these boys to stop being lazy. Even occasionally.
Weāre in cap hell for the next two+ years unless Steve can somehow trade Copp, Holl, Chairot, and Compher. Only chance we make the playoffs (or at least compete/make noise in the playoffs) if those players play up to their cap value, or the young kids come sooner than expected
I like how McLellan said he just wants Elmer to play his game and not worry about making mistakes. The last coach was trying to get the players to play a defensive system that not all types of players thrive under. Soderblom is a thoroughbred that needs freedom to thrive in the O zone. He has the ability to dangle like no one else on the team for the most part. Lets see what he's got!
This guy is a smart, experienced coach. He doesn't just rely on platitudes and cliches. He'll get the most out of this roster- as flawed as it is. Also, Elmer looked really comfortable and for a guy his size can really skate and handle the puck. Just needs games.

Winning 21 and losing 26 isn't really a .500. Get an actual .500 record and you may have a shot at playoff spot.
