  1. Nope, no special treatment for McDavid. He does the crime, he does the time.

The only way for NHL to actually get this right was to suspend both players for the same amount of time for what were – all things considered – essentially identical cross checks. McDavids was a little more intentional than Myers (Myers seemed to be more intending to go for more of a body shot – just because he missed and got Bouchard's head doesn't excuse him), but the result was the same… they both cross checked an opponent in the head. Neither of those should stand. McDavid is just being a baby about it.

  2. Count how many infractions happen to mcdavid in one game.

I get calls get missed, mcdavid is 197th in penalties drawn league wide.

  3. Edmonton has to suck it up without McDavid.
Canucks did it without Hughes this season and he was suspended for another player losing his balance Hughes technically missed the entire game and suspended 1 game.

Rules are rules the NHL put them in place for reasons plus McDavid has gotten away with a lot of none calls and cheap fly-by recent incidents that McDavid had gotten away with is probably why they set him for 3 and also needing to set an example of players rather if they are super stars in this league no1 can just get away with it which is also a factor that plays in it.

  4. McDavid is a baby. He has a very obvious habit of getting his stick/elbows up, and getting away with it more often than not. Being a "star player" shouldnt mean you get a pass. Players don't get to arbitrarily decide who can or cant do what they want, based on their own egos.

  5. This guy must be blind if refs called the penalty for holding mcdavid wouldn't have retaliate. If anything, Myers should have gotten an extra day as that was intentional versus mcdavid was retaliation because a penalty as garland was holding for 15 seconds. Not saying that mcdavid is right for retaliation but if the penalty was called none of it would have happened. This is coming from someone who's not even an oilers fan.

  6. At 6:30 you say something like “it comes down to whether you think McDavid’s should be treated like other players
” that is another issue. I agree that both should get suspended. Head shots are dangerous. Full stop.

Next issue, a player held another player preventing a possible goal — this is cheating according to the rules. Had the refs blew the whistle the oilers would have had 6 on 4 for 15 to 20 seconds. They could have tied the game, except someone was cheating and didn’t get called on it. Garland admitted he was cheating and he knew he was.

Treat McDavid like every other player. Garland’s hold would have been called 97 times out of 100 except if your number is 97 and there is 15 seconds left on the clock.

The game would be better if hacks who can’t keep up get a penalty every time they interfere illegally with a faster, better opponent. Eventually those hacks would need to be better players or make way for someone else who is.

Allowing the untalented and slow to break the rules without consequence makes the game worse.

    And
you would all agree with me if it was your jersey on McDavids back.

  7. Never ever heard this ABSOLUTE CRAP from Gretzky, Crosby, Lemieux, Jagr, Bure, etc. Perhaps McD has been watching the pathetic Orange conman down south too long. NOBODY is above the law in the NHL McD, learn from your mentors …..as listed above.

  8. 3:16 all the NHL needs to do is ditch th 2nd ref, allow teams to have enforcers and to let them do their jobs. Make the NHL great again instead of a glorified pee-wee league.
