A big win for us though Blomqvist made some good saves for the Pens. We play them at the Burgh in February and April. If they are competing for a wild card spot, those games could be interesting irregardless of our playoff position.
As to dealing Charlie, I REALLY don't want it to be to another Metro Division team. Least of all the Penguins. I don't know if we want to try to add another major piece or not, like a rental #2 physical center with size and 20+ goal scoring ability.
The Caps have 1 more back to back, and that is Apr 1 & 2 on the road against the Bruins and Hurricanes. Logan will get the majority of the starts but Charlie should get an occasional start. I'm thinking next Thursday's game in Seattle against the Kraken should be one.
22 mil for 4 years is reasonable the way LT is playing. It may be in his interest to wait until after the playoffs. We DEFINITELY want to keep Chychrun also. One other thing to maybe factor is is that Ovi's contract will be ending after next year. That will take his money off the books.
I heard through the Hockey Guy channel the cap is going up likely 5% or more. He also mentioned that escrow is going away. Escrow is money withheld from players' salary that might be returned later, (he said 6% this year). It is being terminated 1/30/25. This means the NHL is doing well. Escrow is also a sticking point for a potential lockout in 2026 as the collective bargaining agreement ends after the next season.
