  1. Terrible call, the league should be embarrassed. Using this ridiculous logic, whenever a player is going back and forth between forehand and backhand when stickhandling, he only has control when his stick actually is in contact with the puck?

  2. It’s was probably still offside, but TNT had an angle that they didn’t show here where it looked a lot closer than any of these angles.

  3. This is the kind of thing that happens to a sport when you put a j*wish guy in charge of it. Bogus new rules, calls, sissification, LGBT hockey tape… This is why we can't have nice things.

  4. So if I’m carrying the puck and my player takes a penalty in the middle of one of my dekes, I don’t touch the puck, an opposing player chips it away from me before I retouch the puck and goes on a breakaway and scores…should the play be whistled dead because I had “possession” even though I wasn’t touching the puck?

  5. It's only a matter of time when the Stanley Cup winner is determined in a court room.

I get it – the 'rulebook' states that the player must have the puck touching the blade of his stick – however it's clear as day Makar is in complete control/possession of the puck as he crosses the blueline.

Makar not having the puck on his stick as he crossed the blueline is clearly a miracle and unlikely intentional since he gathered the puck in the neutral zone and made a bee-line in…The puck just happened to 'bounce', or 'slide' a fraction from the blade as he was skating with it – just a matter of an inch, or 2 here

  6. if you look at makars stick and then the puck you can see that they are not touching when he is crossing the plane until number 13 gets back onside because it is considered a delayed offsides. Therefore this is a good goal.

  7. Unfortunately the Avs are the better team. For the underdog to win they need some puck luck; this goal just highlights the lack of fortune the Oilers have had. Damn shame

  8. lolol you could hear it in the entire stadium; had those fans thought that was a legit goal, they would have been cheering and all you heard was dead silence until the ref gave the game away. That's absolutely crazy

  9. question who intercepted the bad Nurse pass then touched the puck twice with a back hand (hence controlling the puck) prior to crossing the line? By this logical no one cause no one had control of the puck? Not looking to hear different plays that aren't the same just focussed purely on this play. No one intercepted the pass, touched the puck twice to steady it prior to crossing the blue line with it. Dangerous precedence set, but you can also dig your arm in the goalies pad and that's not interference. That all said. Fact is Colorado is a significantly better team and they were gonna win this series regardless of this 1 play. But please NHL think of the precedence's this creates – ie don't stick handle over the line just lightly touch it over until everyone is out then your free.

  10. This goal was the Oilers fault for letting Colorado walk in, giving up a goal after scoring was a common theme for Edmonton this playoffs. That being said I saw an offside, despite all the mental gymnastics to justify this call.

Don’t leave the game in the leagues hands.

  11. The call was clearly offside what some people are saying that the puck was not on Macns stick would mean a man could stand in front of the opponent goalie and your goalie could pass the puck all the way to man offside in front of the goalie and legitimately score BS

  12. I think it’s offside. Or since the stick is used to control the puck should that be the rule cause the end of burokovskyes stick is passed the blue line or very close to it right. Is it written that it’s there body must be out of the zone?

  13. These refs have actually destroyed entire teams chances for the cup this year and last year. I’m a aves fan but bullshit is bullshit!

  14. Who is here to compare this to Mcdavids offside against St Louis?

IMO Mcdavid was offside. Cale was not. Heck, Mcdavid didn't score and lost possession immediately because he didn't have control of the puck.

  15. This is almost as bad as the Duchene missed offside years ago. This is blatantly offside. One of the worst calls I’ve ever seen, and this one even involved video review! What is the point of video review if they are going to get calls like this so absolutely wrong?

  16. Inconsistent rulings like these are why the NHL are such a niche franchise where no one understands anything that's going on. How are you going to alienate your own fans by having weird rulings like these? This is literally a textbook offside goal and they somehow brought in "control" into the equation

  17. When the puck has been across the line and back out. Your allowed to shoot the puck or nudge the puck across the blue line back into the zone when your teammates are still in the zone returning to the blue line. The MAIN thing is your NOT allowed to cross the blue line and have POSSESSION while your teammates are still in the zone. Now maker did an exceptional job (maybe some luck) to not be off side and have NO possession while staying behind the blue line. Good goal. And good job for makar.

  18. Lol, it's not about whether he's actually touching the puck at the time.

NHL has the situation room sitting around just to not know the rules.

  19. Listen to Simpson and Cuthbert and think about the THOUSANDS of hours and THOUSANDS of games of experience they have. Their reaction is all you need. OFFSIDE.

  20. Funny is people don’t understand what off sides is, you gotta touch the puck for the play to be off side. The puck was not touched until all players made it back over the blue line. It’s a good goal and this is coming from a Oilers fan.

  21. The stupidity of these comments seriously. He’s allowed to carry the puck in the neutral zone when his teammate is still in the attacking zone. He’s not touching the puck in the attacking zone until his teammate touches up. Both players are in the neutral zone when the puck gets touched again over the line. It’s not offside therefore it’s a good goal. What’s so hard to understand…

  22. Those announcers have seen more games than all the couch coaches out there that have never played the game. Offside by a mile every day of the week except for that night. Garbage call.
