The Edmonton Oilers signed veteran free agent defenseman John Klingberg who last played for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fall of 2023. Klingberg is returning from double hip resurfacing surgery and there are legitimate questions to how effective he can be at the NHL level returning from said injury, but he is a worthwhile risk for an Oilers team firmly in the hunt for a Stanley Cup.
