The McDavid stuff is wild to me. Of course Garland should have gotten a penalty, but that doesn’t justify lumber to the face. Plenty of players should be getting penalties throughout the average NHL game including McDavid for some of the nasty shit he gets away with, but that’s all part of the game – retaliating for some interference with a stick to the face is just simply a suspension-worth escalation. Maybe Garland deserved some roughing in return but if that’s how McDavid wants to stand up for himself then he can accept the consequences.
