Connor McDavid crosschecked Conor Garland in the face. You can say it was worth it. You can say the league needs to be better at protecting its stars. You can say Garland had it coming. But you can’t say this is acceptable. Understandable, but not acceptable. In the current context of the NHL this shouldn’t be more than a fine. In my world, it’s 6-10 games.

Why isnt Garland kicked?
Garland is fine; Tylers cross check on Bouchard was worse. Why dont you mention that one? If Wes Mcauley did his job right none of this would have happened. 1-2 games for both.
Refereeing was horrible.
Mcauley should be suspended. Or just fired for his history of abysmal officiating.

That cross check is no 7 game suspension. Maybe if it was pretty savage and Garland got hurt. But like I'm sorry lol, Conner McDavid himself has been cross checked in the face far worse than that and the culprit didn't get no suspension even at all. So…. I'm sorry , there will be a missed game or 2 and I'm also sorry the Canucks again will not get passed the Oilers come playoff time either. End of story

The officiating needs to be suspended and receive better training.

Refs take blame for letting Garland mug him for 10 seconds. This shouldn't be much of a review. They should both get 2 minutes each and that's that.

Myers, Mcdavid and refs should all receive suspensions .. 😂 garlands awesome but shoulda gotten a penalty for sure
He needs to be suspended yes but I don’t think it sould be for more then 2 game because if there was a penalty called this all would have been ovoided

At 0.43 Garland is cross checking McDavid as McDavid cross checks Garland. Garland is by no means innocent.
If you had tough guys in the lineup this wouldn't be happening . Players take liberties when they know there are no consequences
The officials should have blown the play down much sooner. Could have called roughing or holding on both Conner and Garland. Things would not have gotten out of control. I predict McDavid gets a one game suspension without pay. A precedent example would be Timo Meier who last year got a one game suspension for cross-checking Zachary L'Heureux in the face.

You can't blame anyone but mcdavid for this. That short elbow in Minny the other day was brutal and clearly Intentional. This cross check to garlands head also completely unacceptable. Clearly targeting the head with a stick infraction.
Both Myers and mcdavid should get 6 games minimum ! Maybe more for Myers cause he's been suspended before. This crap can't go unpunished or the NHLs players will be the ones who establish discipline and that might not work out so well for the oilers or the NHLs golden boy….
