This hit could have crippled the player for life.
That was not “at his head” and it was not “charging” regardless of what you say – clean hit 100%
He should’ve gotten 10 games
I think even if Nurse had his head down it should of been a lower body check at full steam!

He wasn't in stride til the hit not a charge. Like 2 meters he coasts. And Reavo doesn't lift his shoulder into his head Nurse is bent over and his body lifts after contact.

Wicked dirty not gonna defend Reaves even tho i cheer for his team. I will however say guys on the ice gotta work on keeping their head up too. You cant expect to be able to just put your head down and stare at the puck and not pay for it. Reaves however def could have done far more to not nail nurse in the head and didn't.
I’m a Leafs fan and have no intention of defending him. It was a reckless hit. He deserves the suspension and I’ll be glad to have him off the ice in favour of a player that might actually contribute something.

You called it exactly as I did on every aspect of the hit even the five game suspension. I’d like to see the fines based on the salary of the injured player, one per game salary for each game suspension. Reaves would’ve got a $560,000 fine, that surely would take these types of hits out of the game.

Back in the 90s it would've been a good hit. Hockey is different now. You can't target the head. At least he didn't elbow him.

While I do not condone the hit at all and it was unquestionably a high hit. My question for this type of thing is why is there no onus on the player to wear their helmet properly. I understand comfort and it effects breathing but his helmet is almost completely off his head before he even hits the ice. It does nothing to protect the head if it is laying on the ice discarded.
Reaves is a 225-lb stupid sockcucker. I’m embarrassed that he’s from Winnipeg. The big dummy thinks he’s playing his dad’s sport out there.
I call bullshit on all of this. The hit was not a dirty hit. Nurse has some responsibility for protecting himself as well as wearing his helmet properly. Reaves is a big guy and he just followed through on his check. It’s not as if Nurse is an innocent player. Nurse has handed out hits that are just as bad or worse. Nurse is known for hitting players that are already engaged with someone else. He’s a hack. This is a case of Reaves getting suspended because of his reputation.
