I’m not surprised by the Canes season this year. We lost a lot to free agency last season. I figured we would be in the playoffs but not quite where the last 3 years have been.
Orlov and Burns have contracts expiring after this year. With Nikishin possibly coming over after this season from the KHL and Morrow having a good season in the AHL, we may be looking at some new players back there next season, which frees up cap space for a goalie and some scoring forwards.
I agree that Burns is probably playing too many minutes. He has been left 1 on 1 at ones with players like Crosby and MacKinnon and made the plays to prevent shot. But he does seem to wear down. It’s a long season. I hope they look at some load management for Burns.
I wanna know why Andersen ain't playing. If he's not gonna play then he's gotta go. I feel like the past 2 or 3 seasons we've only had Kochetkov in front of the net and a 3rd string back up here and there. We need more talent in front of the net. Also, Shaun Gostisbehere the start of the season was doing really good and now after coming back from his injury he's been soft and needs to get his confidence back. Hopefully we put that Buffalo loss behind us and play some CANES hockey tonight against the Glitter Knights.
