The New York Islanders three-game winning streak came to an end as they fell to the Ottawa Senators 2-0. The strong play of Marcus Hogberg and the NHL debut of Marc Gatcomb were the hlghlights, but the Isles offense was MIA and they failed to create high danger scoring chances.
We have our key takeaways and our hero and goat of the game plus we discuss the absence of JG Pageau and Alexander Romanov from this game.
We also have our weekly Farm Report on all things Bridgeport Islanders as they earned a shutout win over the last week.

Isles shut out for nhl high 6th time and fall flat at home after 2 game trip. 2 g's in two games. SEE THE PROBLEM LOUZER. Having no fkn pp doesn't help isles. Isles are like a scale right now tilting towards not selling with every W and selling with each L. Right now with isles 2 games under .500 and 15th in east the scale is tilting towards the SELL side. Even stellar goaltending from a back-up can't save isles vs. sens. The call-up did nothing playing on the useless 4th line as 18 had his usual 0's across the board playing on (dragging down) third line. And i don't care if a call-up played hard or fast-isles need occasional g's from bottom line guys. 9 g's from bottom liners with 4 from 53 who got some playing higher up is pathetic. Maybe louzer will take a nice two week nap during useless 4 nations so not to contemplate what has to be done as other gm's contemplate their moves. Shut out 6 times thru 43 games means isles should hit double digits in shut outs so isles will lead nhl in times shut out category. Louzer can be proud of that one.
I'm staying with my prediction that we are headed for a lottery selection. Their .477 point percentage extrapolates to a 78 point season. As weak as the east is, they are still not going to make the playoffs with as few as 78 points.
And while I'm at it, they can't get rid of Brock Nelson fast enough. He has totally checked out along with Palmieri. I'd also move Lee and Dobson. Let's turbocharge the rebuild.
DOA
we came out strong for the first 2mins….so disappointing..
Lamarillo is running the team into the ground, he should be making deals with every offer , the New York Islanders need to have a Fire Sale and rebuild properly thanks Gil👍🏼
Lucy is about to yank the football away once again
Gil, I think you can rest your case -you have quite persuasively made the argument that this team is going nowhere fast, and that if octogenarian Lou stubbornly continues to “believe in this group,” he should be sacked in the morning.

Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? When something is too good to be true, 9× "out of 10", IT IS. Marcus Hochberg kept them in the game. Congratulations to Mark Gatcomb for making his NHL debut, and he looked good, too. Matt Martin dropped his gloves. I wish he'd done that when Max Domi slammed Isiah George, costing a possible concussion. The Islanders forwards had a combined total of 9 shots. NOT GOOD AT ALL. I wouldn't be surprised if the fans voiced their opinion. I understand that this is a 7 game homestand, but they needed to get off on the right foot, AND THEY DIDN'T. Hero, Marcus Hochberg, for keeping them in the game. Mark Gatcomb for making his NHL debut a successful and the PK. 🐐, Noah Dobson, for costing them a goal and taking them a stupid penalty. The CORE OF THE FOUR ISN'T BE TOO 😢, ESPECIALLY MIKE BOSSY, WHO WOULD JUMP UP OUT OF HIS GRAVE AND GIVE THEM A SERIOUS TALKING TO. HAPPY 🎂, RON HANDY. He only played 10 games as an Islander. He set up 1/2 of The Dynamic Duo in a win at St. Louis. Hear from you later, Gil. When it comes to the Flyers, the Islanders should still have their number when they come to LI. We'll talk more about that tomorrow. Now, LET'S GO ISLANDERS.
that's the season
Thanks for your reporting Gil. The Isles will have to go 28 – 11( or in our case 23 -1 -10) to sniff at the playoffs. As Jim Cramer says" Sell Sell Sell !!!! ". Does Roy and MacLean follow Louzer out the door? Would Kevin Weekes want the job?
As I said this team is going nowhere. They have no offense. They’re boring. Hickey and Hogan admitted this after the game. The cupboard in Bridgeport is woefully bare. Hogberg played well. I agree. But it’s the usual constipated offense. Push and nothing happens. Move these vets now or end up holding an empty bag.
Same old changing lines all the time team stinks
Lamoriello ended the same with the Devils. He screws up the Cap all the time. He needs to rebuild and he won’t. The Isles are old and stale. It’s not the coach. You can’t win the Kentucky Derby riding a mule. The Senators looked like they were 20 points ahead of the Islanders.
Wait til the place is half empty. And it’s coming. It’s a PIA to park there. And soon going to watch crap is going to become too much trouble. And the ripoff concession prices are a disgrace for a more middle class fsn base. MSG has better prices and food.
The tesm is so pathetic that Fans are bemoaning the loss of journeyman players and the promotion of the same. Dobson should be shipped out for the right offer. Soft soft soft. Nice to see Devon Toewes score OT winner last night. Would any
It’s getting old same old, same old, we need to do something fast so sick of the same thing with this team They don’t sustain any pressure in the offensive zone until like the third . . A little bit at the end of the second, but that was it. No playoffs this year
The good news won’t take long.😢😢 So true
Lou is not trading Varlamov. He’s not trading anyone. He is insane.
Once again, no talent on this team to score goals. Their best offensive players are "good" at best – would be 3rd line playes on a talented team. Goalie Marus played well and kept them in the game. On the 1st Ottawa goal, d man Dobson just stood next to the Ottawa player while the Ottawa player stood in front of Goalie Marcus. Dobson didnt do a damm thing. Ottawa player was free to make the tip in and score the goal. I wonder if coach Roy shows the video of that goal to the team, and then look at Dobson and says "WTF". Dobson is another one of the over-rated players on this team. This 7 game homestand will determine if Isles are even a contendor for a playoff spot. Gil is correct – Dobson is goat of the game.
Its not over yet we're right on that threshold of being done tho so it's really up to each individual now do they wanna be here do they wanna put it on the line every night no I don't see that if lou doesn't shake things up guys will stay comfortable
How many of these type of games have to occur before Lou is fired? There has to be an actual number no? 10 15 50?
Great job by Gil voicing all our frustration. I have never seen such a bipolar group. Someone needs to remind them that they are getting paid well to play a game we all wish we could be playing. Show some self respect and put in the effort every damn game!!!
As I discussed with you yesterday during the game, they should have brought up Pinho or Karlstrom instead of Gatcomb. I understand they needed a fourth liner but they could have moved Casey back there. This team needs scoring and attitude, and unfortunately they have neither, nor will they until Lou is gone!
Hogberg played a great game and was the highlight of the night for me. He has played really well for us! Offensive output was miserable. Very disaspointing for the home fans. LGI
Hi Gil! Geez our fans pay great hard earned money to take that insane walk and drive. Then the incredulous amount of $$$ to park and purchase whatever and we are on a very steady diet of boring 0-2 goals a game hockey? It’s like “Slim fast Hockey”! Gil this really sucks as a fan. I’d rather lose with the kids than lose with the country club. Silver linings are that Eiserman, Nelson and Big Hog seem like keepers! If we can make the right moves—we can be back to young, fast and exciting hungry hockey on the Island. Ps—I was happy for the kid and his parents—he looked hungry and was not out of place and has speed—another possible replacement for JG—and cheap. Take care Gil—louless do right by our team and trade those two to begin a new chapter—-owners you take us badly for granted
The following NY Isles players must be moved on from: Mayfield, B Nelson, Matt Martin, JP Pageau, Dobson, Pullock, Pelech, Anders Lee
Ppwer play is lethal😂😂😂
Good morning team! Missed the podcast yesterday, and catching up today. Yes, the team looked flat, but I thought they were in the game. Definitely could have been a better performance. I was very impressed with Hogberg thought. Basically the only bright spot on the team. He gives up one goal and the second goal scored on an empty net. In my book, he played well enough to win. Thanks again. Gil. During your last survey, I selected waiting the 6 weeks to see what happens, but it may be time to sell now. Let's start building for our future.
Let's Go Islanders!!
