Detroit Red Wings coach Todd McLellan spoke to reporters on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025 from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
McLellan is 7-2-0 since taking over for the Wings on Dec. 26. A 6-3 loss to the San Jose Sharks snapped a 7-game winning streak for the Red Wings, and after the game McLellan had sharp words for Justin Holl, among other players.
“He sent himself a message,” McLellan said after the Sharks loss. “I think that’s pretty obvious. I’m not going to sit here and BS for him — he had a terrible night. That’s just the way it is. Whether he got on in the last five minutes or not, it really doesn’t matter. He knows he can play better. I am going to tell him that. I know he is a better player than that.”
