Benn boarding on Carlo – Tough Call Recommendation
Jamie Benn didn’t see anything but numbers on his whole approach into contact against Brandon Carlo. He was issued a two minor for boarding. I think he needs to be reminded to be better than that.

Totally agree. Benn is the reason I don't root for my hometown Stars at all.
On the flip side, there is a bit of acting going on on Carlo's part. The double leg kick is a surefire indicator of "I know I'm gonna get hit, so I'm gonna kick myself in the butt for good measure because it will help draw the penalty."

I like your videos but I have to disagree with you on this one.
Unless you are being pressured by a player like Missy Marner of the Leafs or child size player Candy Caufield of the Canadiens,then you better expect some rough contact,ya gotta know you're on the menu.
I think in most cases a lot of people interpret me saying this is a bad hit me meaning he shouldn’t hit at all. That’s not the case. Legal contact is possible here. This isn’t it though.

Boarding, no doubt about it.
Even Don Cherry would agree you dont go through a player like this. Benn is staring at Carlo’s numbers from the hashmarks. You cant be making that kind of contact. There was plenty of time for Benn to slow up a bit or cycle around the right of Carlo and go behind the net.

Benn is a scumbag, and anything he does should be viewed through the lens of 'he knows it's bad, but he'll do it anyway'. His cross-checks to the necks that he's so fond of are my evidence. He's done it to many players in the playoffs. Hell, he did it to Dylan Larkin of Detroit off a face-off years ago, and ended Larkin's season (broken neck), with no punishment.
Benn has history, he has shown intent in the past, and this is no exception. I may hate the Bruins as a team (Red Wings fan), but FUCK Jamie Benn, and he should be suspended for at least 3 games for this hit. Carlo's face bouncing off the glass is not okay.

Carlo turns and braces last second. This kind of hit is something Benn always does and the reason they get away with it is because they don't brace that early.
Deserves the boarding but not suspension.
You stop in front of a moving train, you get steamrolled. Benn’s body was even turning to the right, but inertia doesn’t disappear just because you want it to. I’m still ok with the boarding call because outcome matters more than intent, but with suspensions there has to be clear intent.
