What has gotten into the Boston Bruins?
The Boston Bruins have won two games in a row and look nothing like the team fans have watched the past two weeks.
Have the recent rumours of the decision between Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak motivated this team to play better?

What is the reason for their recent success?
I can't wait to go to the game Saturday to watch my Sens take on your Bruins. I'm just sad Ullmark won't be in nets to watch.
I think the source did this for the same reason😊 so they would rally
the NHL does not need the media's help to destroy the brand and the game. They have taken a page ot of the NBA, NFL more recently and re losing viewership.
lets get back to playing the greatest game ever played and keep the nonsense out of it and get better referees to cal la fair and balanced game – stop the drama. this is not soccer
Ill be honest who missed 73
It was great to see the defense doing better last night. No offense to McAvoy, but when he and Zadorov are on the ice together I don't have a good feeling (all season). They appear to be the least focused pair. McAvoy seems focused too much on offense and Zadorov is constantly being caught flat-footed and picking up penalties. To see Lohrei, Wotherspoon, Carlo, and Peeke step up and play with hunger was great to watch. I'm also liking the current forward line pairings. Pasta and Zacha have great chemistry, Marchy and Lindholm are pretty scrappy, and the bottom six are always physical. Hopefully we've turned the corner and can string together a good finish to this season. My wish is that all of this adversity will play into a deep cup run (similar to Edmonton last year). Don't think we're there yet (need to work on special teams) but I see sparks.
They are winning because they are actually TRYING.
Imagine paid professionals doing their job.
Let's see if they can keep it up.
Go Bruins.
Don't be surprised if that rumor was started by Marchand himself. With Pastas permission, of course. Brad doesn't get enough credit for his intelligence. It wouldn't surprise me if he got a teammate to "rat him out" to the media, knowing he could use that to bring the team together against a common enemy: The lying media.
Last night I saw tape to tape passes. I saw defensive coverage. I saw elite goaltending. There is still a lack of talent. but last night I saw the Boston Bruins.
Still need to be concerned about the SOG differential.. B's getting way outshot. Liked what I saw with Lettieri and Poitras.
Swayman playing much better. Offense playing better IMO. We are clearly not a shooting team but I feel they are getting more opportunities. The defense is still IMO a concern. Too often we back in and lay off in our zone. I get we play a zone defense and have for a number of years but I feel we always made it difficult for opponents to get quality shots from the slot but that's missing this year. We can't expect goalies to stand on their head night after night. As always, our powerplay was bad…again. They need to do some changes…throw Zadorov out there but in front of the net for instance. Simply wheeling out the same powerplay is insane. Clearly they don't gel, for whatever reason. Those coaches can try all year but they are never gonna fit that square thru that triangle. All the teams right behind us have games in hand. If they can't get the powerplay going and shore up the defense, they are going to be golfing early.
Bergeron and Chara keep close enough ties to the Bruins that even IF there were pissy fifis going on in the room, they'd both call up Marchand and Pasta and tell them to suck it up. That's a big IF, though.
I like Poitras, but I think he really needed some time in the minors. More ice time, bigger role, a bit easier to put up points, and work on his overall game. It's nice to see him back, and he assisted on the important first goal. If there's one serious flaw with this team, it's a lack of scoring. If Poitras can supply some or all of that, it just makes the whole team look a whole lot better.
It takes something to make this team fired up. Whether it was coaching changes, or some "dirt" whatever….
It feels like they don't play with any fire, or any commitment. UNTIL there's some fire or shots towards them. I'd rather they play with a bee in their bonnet than have them sit back and be bored on ice
Loved the phyicality last night and retaliation for the hit on Kasty.
Underrated play from Peake, Koepke, Zacha.
Pasta was a force.
Swayman wants to fight someone. When he has that bulldog mentality watch out.
Marchand is leading. This is his fucking team.
Great game last night. Loved the fight back in them.
Swayman was great except for that soft second goal.
Potsy should stay, I'd replace Brazor /Beecher with Lysell. Braz is just to slow for the odd goal he gets.
With Ully out week to week, I think Korp will get the homecoming start on Saturday or for sure on Monday against the Sharks
The only complaints, hatred, loathing, dislike, etc., that you see online about the Bruins, are from 1) people that don't know how to play hockey and/or even know how to lace up a pair of skates, 2) a group of followers that will jump on the bandwagon of whatever the current (meaningless) trend is, 3) are Canadiens, Maple Leafs, Flyers and Canucks fans, 4) base their thought process on anything else other than doing their own research, and then out of boredom, whine and cry on any platform that'll allow them a reason to do so.
Bottom line, there's absolutely no merit as to why there's so much disgust towards the Bruins. As fans, yes, we have that right to display our frustration. But not being a fan of this team, and seeing the amount of online idiocy that targets this team, is an obsession and insanity towards a franchise that's never done one fucking thing wrong to you. Mind you, when you're a person that has zero credibility, your box of tissues are always within arm's reach.
Don't get too excited folks. B's built up a 4-0 lead and sat on that lead. They got badly outshot once again. Swayman was outstanding for his 3rd game in a row but I don't get what all the praise is about when they allowed 44 sog. If they don't start playing some consistent good D this team is going nowhere. P.S. please fire Sweeney!!!
Freddeeeee!
I don't care what fans think of the fight, or opponent. I usually skip fighting – but I watched that one! I enjoyed it!
"Welcome back baby" to you Freddy!
Not convinced one Hot Pocket- eating reporter's going to alter THIS particular franchise.
Bruins don't care what fans or reporters think. Because they don't think.
Thats not going to affect their game.
This fool thinks Marchand spoke a bit too much about it.
Take a page from Pat maroon. Quick ⚡ shutdowns getting the point across. Less is more 🤫
Otherwise our Rat's just getting these wannabe jock reporters more clicks
Speaking of clicks…
What's clicking now?
It was the HOCKEY MOM'S! 🌹🏒
Yep
I've said this for decades… Hockey moms are better than leprechauns hanging around Celtic locker rooms
Ask Bobby Orr about mother's Day 1970!
☘️🏒
Thanks Court!
Good video 👍
🐻 Lets goooo!
Sad to see crap like that being spread, but that’s the social platform mentality. If we chase that $HIT we give it life. Let’s strive to keep our stick on the ice….
As far as the Bruins play they are too inconsistent to be seen as a cup contender, let alone the playoffs. Having said that, it only needs a spark and I am hopeful that as we round the final corner they get tired of losing and turn it up in the stretch – it’s a close race in their division. I am visualizing squeaking out a wildcard and firing on all six cylinders for a deep run into the playoffs, and just maybe…..
Indirectly or 'a contrario', the victory against Tampa Bay will have been revealing of the main reason for the BRUINS' difficulties this current season: the Speed Of Execution.
Yesterday, the BRUINS team showed itself to be fast in all facets of the game:
– fast skating
– fast transition
– fast passes
– fast counterattack
– fast puck movement
– no static players
This speed of execution completely handcuffed the opponent, always forced to skate on their heels because at any moment, a BRUINS player in motion could receive a relay and launch a counterattack. The perfect example of the effectiveness of a fast transition is the sudden counterattack on the right by Poitras who, taking the defender short, allows him to make a perfect pass to Frederic who scores the goal.
And if you add to that, physical work and two glove drops (well! Zadorov won his fight mainly with his size… because boxing was still miserable), you may have the only winning recipe for this season's BRUINS edition.
Let's hope the team learned from this victory that, in today's hockey, slow execution closes all doors of possibility while fast execution opens them wide… until the last second of play.
Big congrats to Wotherdpoon! 1st nhl goal! 🐻 Peeke 1st as a Bear
Marchand is one of my favourite players all time. He was so crucial to the cup win we will always owe him as a Bruins fan. But I didn’t think he was the right fit for captain. And I think it’s showing.
marchand planted the story with weei to galvanize the team.
I think what happened was Pasta said something like they should be on different lines because they were the only 2 players really producing. There's a difference between saying you want to play on different lines to spread out the talent, and saying you DON'T WANT to play on a line with someone is huge. I think this is what happened, and I think there are a couple idiots at WEEI that don't know apples from grapes and they arrogantly run their mouth.
