Montreal doesn't need any more draft picks, you can only sign 50 players
The freak Heineman accident (thankfully not serious but still…) followed by Pezzetta taking his place as well as a penalty in the first minute 🤦♂(facepalm)…I thought "okay, here is the first slice of new adversity since the Habs winning stretch and finally getting Dach and Laine beginning to chug along"…all part of the expected challenges in-season. All I'll say in the short-term for this week is that they MUST know that they cannot bring that undisciplined play into Dallas tomorrow night nor against Toronto Saturday, if they expect to continue their climb in the standings (w/o Heineman).
Another comeback win. This team is the real McCoy with true leadership! I hope they keep Savard. Just think how important players like Evans and Armia are when Habs pick up a lot of penalties. Sign Evans!!
Hi Shaun, further to my comment on the podcast regarding Hutson's future contract. Moritz Seider won the Calder as a 20 year old, accumulating 50 points. He signed a 7 year contract at $8,550,000 pa. Therefore a precedent for a Calder Cup winning defenceman. Hutson may not win the Calder however is on pace to get 67 points. Therefore the question becomes do Habs consider Hutson at least as good as Seider?
With the team improving Hutson's numbers should conceivably improve and he could become only the 4th rookie defenceman ever to score 70+ points. The three to do it are Hall of Famers…. Mark Howe, Larry Murphy and Brian Leetch. Therefore another question is what is Hutson's worth given his stats could be in line with all-time greats?
As I mentioned, Hutson should easily become the highest paid player on the team. My prediction is he gets more than Seider., so $9M per year for the maximum number of years.
Can confirm about driving in Salt Lake City. A narrow north-south corridor with useless lake on one side, mountains on the other and just an absolute sea of people who just shoulda stayed home. On the bright side, plenty of billboards about Jesus and meth to keep you entertained while you’re stuck in traffic.

Sucks that Pezzetta took a penalty early in the game, didn't help toward our feeling for him. But let's be real, this one wasn't his fault, the other dude put his stick between Pezzetta's legs, but Pezzetta clearly isn't holding the stick. That was a bad call imo.
I had no doubts about Hutson’s offensive abilities but I was curious to see how he would fare defensively .
It think it’s fair to say he is exceeding expectations in all aspects of his game . His off the charts hockey IQ more than compensate for his smaller stature .
He shows visible progression every night and doesn’t seem to be even close to reaching his ceiling .
Hutson and Demidov on the power play , good times ahead indeed .
Why does Marty keep giving Pezzetta chances?? He's a liability – taking a penalty 30 seconds into the game – seriously?? not the first time he's done this. It's not like there are no other players that can fill in the spot – Harvey Pinard, Roy – either would be better than that pylon.
See the chemistry on the Montreal canadiens All you need to do is look at the expression on Patrick Laine face when anyone scores on his line or he scores there's no more convincing than that he's happy to be on this team they are all believing in each other.
Brandon Prust?
Extension for Hutson as soon as possible. Cheers
Hutson signs for 5 years 7 million. Then he's 10 plus million. He will be 27. He's gonna take a team deal, watch.
The athletic is a joke , when they had Suzuki as one of the worst contracts in the NHL in pretty much knew they hated the habs and they keep proving me right . Now I disregard the athletic as a knowledgeable hockey publication .
I don't think Nashville is taking trade calls from Montreal any time soon after that barron /carrier trade , ouch
Would we be better off to sign Lane to a bridge contract like Kirby‘s contract of three years at 5.5m, $50,000 less than Guhle…. Knowing the next one might be eight years probably for about $10 million per year.
