Why Aleksander Barkov is the Best 2-Way Forward in Hockey #intangibleshockey #hockeyiq

Heres an intangibles hockey style breakdown of the details to why Aleksander Barkov is one of the best overall forwards in the game today. He is the complete player. He has a great athletic skillset paired with an even greater hockey IQ. He plays at an extremely high pace in both directions, always skating, keeping momentum, working back above the puck and supporting his defense.

With good positioning, momentum and timing he finds his way into soft areas and offensive opportunity. But he doesn’t sit around waiting for pucks to come to him – he CREATES opportunity by skating with the puck, and attacking the net.

Lets take a look at some of the things he does well?

  1. Promoting ruzzians is the worst favor for NHL. Or maybe you like ruzzian “world” so much? Make peace, no w0r. They are neg4t1vely welcome in NHL

  2. Thanks for the vid! Finally someone really digging in to Barky's greatness, which doesn't always show up on the stat-sheet. His ability to seamlessly turn his momentum form offence to defence is what really sets him apart. His imprint is all over the rink. Breakaways are far and apart against the Panthers, and when he is on the ice, they usually just don't happen. Or 2-to-1s and 3-to-2s. He certainly has the skills to be a 100+ pts/season scorer, but he never, ever "cheats" on the expence of good d. And the whole team truly has bought into that.

  3. There's a lot more to being successful in the playoffs than on ice skill. McDavid and Drai have a loser mentality and tilt extremely easy. McDavid has never comeback from an 0-2 series deficit. Then of course everyone knows Matthews and the Leafs have no heart.

You gotta really have your head straight to make it through the guantlet. That's exactly what makes Barkov so dangerous on top of his technical skill.

  4. Thanks, awesome video! Great showcase about good skating and keeping the momentum for him but also the whole team. Outstanding playing. 🙂

  5. Barkov is a great player, but isnt the best in hockey. I think mcdavid is better but the teams they play for are vastly different and this changes how we view them. FLA is made for the playoffs, and the team plays well around barkov, the Edmonton team structure reminds me of a team like the leafs. Great high end talent, average goaltending and an ok defense. If you go up against FLA with that mix your going to get ripped up.

Though to note i think Barkov is better defensively than McDavid. Overall talent goes to MCD, which isnt a slight against barkov, hes still one of the best.

  6. McDiver and crysaitl are the two most protected players in league history now getting exposed for hiw useless they are when the games count

  7. Florida is just stacked with cheap contracts (which is ending this year) and a goalie putting up a .980 in the finals.

Barkov is good, but there’s other factors here.

  8. He is an ultimate team player. And such a nice human being. I wonder what would happen if he ever loses his mind on ice…

  9. If number 24 of New York Rangers would have been just a little bit smarter and made the pass not directly but of the left board it could have been 2 on 1 with Barkov being left well behind. Not very smart play to be honest. Definitely not the play I would be showing anyone as an example of his greatness… He just got lucky here NY player didn't think quick enough but it's not because Barkovs play made him to do that.

  10. And he lost today 1:8 McD and Drai make him looking like a cheating child!!! Now get feared foolish sunny boys, only three wins left…🎉😂😂😂

  11. I disagree.. I think he's a good forward.. But if you think he's the best forward when McDavid, McKinnon, Kane, and Bedard exists, then you must be a Panthers fan lol. I might put him in top 20.. maybe.. if that. His teammate Carter Verhaeghe is better. Both regular season and playoffs.

  12. I appreciate your enthusiasm for detailed breakdown of Barkov, but those little black dots look like i have something on my screen!

  13. Imagine line-up with Barkov as center, McDavid and MacKinnon on wings without the need to defend, Josi and Fox on defense and Shesterkin at goal.

  14. He's still underated, even with the borderlinbe unanimous Selke, it's just the amount good things that come their way because of decision and actions that he does is just borderline magic.

He's not as flashy as some, but modern play is so much more about the aspects of his play mentioned in this video!

  15. Could you make a new video about Barkov showing clips from the finals where he shuts down key players of Edmonton and makes other incredible plays? Great video btw!

  16. Kucherov, pasta, Panarin/Zibanejad, McDavid/Draisaitl I mean what more is there to say?? It only took winning the cup but been waiting for about 7 yrs for ppls to realize how good he is

  17. Bark was for long while underrated and it it true, he honed his game from year to year. Hockey IQ is high as it gets and way he sees the ice is off the charts.

  18. Barkov is the best forward in hockey. If he was in the role of scoring more, he would be a 40+ goal scorer a season. He is filling the role thats currently needed.

  19. My favorite thing about Barkov is when they drafted him, Cherry was all up in arms and questioning why they would get a Finnish player over Johnathan Drouin! Other countries have great players! Plus Barkov is 100Xs better than Drouin

  20. And what does he do in his summer holiday and NHL lock-out season free time? Plays pick-up games in his home town. I've beaten him in street soccer, but in pond hockey pickup game culture there are no scoreboards or winners or losers, but joy of outdoors excercise, teamwork and self expression. He doesn't speak, but this is the native tongue he speaks in.
