I really believe brannstrom should have been picked up, he should’ve never been waived to begin with. Better on both ends than joulsen and if I needed a 7th man ik which i’m taking easily
The Philly arena deal will not "revitalize the area around it". We've seen this exact story before, in Washington DC. I'm an Asian American from DC. Our arena completely killed our Chinatown, and continues to damage what remains. Philly's Chinatown has even more to lose given that it is still home to numerous Chinese Americans and Asian American residents and small businesses, all of which will be pushed out by this new deal. Philly's city council and mayor have done nothing but refuse to listen to their AAPI constituents or have their best interests in their hearts, and as an Asian hockey fan, it is really hard to watch yet another city have to go through this.
ottawa wants to build another stadium on the outskirts of the city not downtown.
the leafs and the habs built stadiums downtown.
i would expect a really big parking lot and no public transit.
and people complaining about how far away it is from where they live or work.
imo.
Hellebuyck should be in the conversation for a Hart. He is the most valuable player on the Jets. My top 4 for the Hart would be, in this order: Hellebuyck, Kaprizov, Mackinnon, then McDavid.
5:40 noooo no more fires please😳
Ottawa is dealing with the NCC. Judging by the past approval could take decades. If they had planted trees at LeBreton Flats when it was torn down it would be an old growth forest now.
I like how a Canadian just says 'South Philly' like an old Philly OG.
Here’s hoping the new Philly arena is as majestic as T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
the Flyers have Xfinity Live ! in that area it's also said the Phillies want to build up the area to so i say by 2035 the whole Philadelphia sports complex area is going to look very different when everything is finished .
I’m beginning to think Phoenix will get a new arena before Ottawa
Philadelphia’s new arena will be in the same area where Wells Fargo is. Sixers wanted one in Chinatown & honestly I think that would’ve been bad news for the Flyers. I think they would’ve lost a lot of revenue due to concerts and other events most likely skipping Wells Fargo to go to the newer arena. Plus, I think that would’ve displaced a lot of residence and businesses in the Asian community and I think that would’ve been a terrible idea.
Staal is the most surprising one
Thanks for the video! Good info, details, and insights! Pretty good choices for the three stars but Kane might be a stretch.
Why the Flyers think they need a new arena, when Wells Fargo is not even 30 years old, is ludicrous. They should have to foot the entire cost of it. Spending $400 million to renovate a building, they may only play 5 more seasons max, is a complete waste of money.
Revitalize South Philadelphia? Somebody obviously has never been to the area.
On THG's question, seeing Flyers getting the arena in '31 I was thinking no way they get it before Ottawa if that is 5 years away. Then I realized that 5 years away is 2030. That was a revelation I was not ready for.
Is it me or does that Canes sweater look orange?
Love the Canes jersey
Wells Fargo is a beautiful arena. Completely unnecessary.
Move the Senators to Quebec City!
I've said this before. The NCC have never agreed to anything without 20 years of studies and committees. They are incapable of making deals.
Just friendly clarification on the Philly stuff; Wells Fargo Center, Citizens Bank Park, and Lincoln Financial Field are all within a 10-15 minute walk of each other, many blocks south of downtown (Center City amongst locals). The outskirts of the complex is highly residential.
The 76ers pay Comcast Spectacor (owner of the Flyers and the arena) to lease the Wells Fargo Center. The 76ers lease ends in 2031, so Harris Blitzer Sports Entertainment (owner of the 76ers) planned to have a new arena built in Chinatown, which is part of the legitimate and congested downtown, which was met with intense scrutiny and protest, but still approved. What seems to have happened is that Comcast and HBSE have come to an agreement to 50/50 split a new arena in the same sports complex area they’re in now, and Comcast will take a minority stake in the 76ers ownership. The entire city was blindsided by the partnership and arena decision, but given how disastrous plopping a new arena in downtown Philadelphia would have been…I think I speak for all of us in Philly when I say we are all HIGHLY satisfied with the outcome.
Interesting, The Devils are paying for the Flyers new Arena….Devils & 76ers share the same ownership group.
The Gritty Dome?
