Hey guys today in this video im going to be talking about the patrik laine trade that will change montreal canadiens history forever. I worked on this for like 6 hours so I would love if you could give it some support. But anyway patrik laine, alex carrier, cole caufield, and the other moves kent hughes has made have been history altering so hey gimme your thoughts below!

  1. Laine is still sick with the flue and the Canadiens are still winning.

I think it's more Carrier and his fit in the puzzle.

  2. The value of Laine trade remains to be seen. Laine has missed many games so far…Let's wait til the end of the season…

  3. Not sure what "the Jordan Harris experiment in Montreal had been proven to fail" is supposed to mean. That's not the kind of thing one says or writes when they do their research. Jordan Harris was a 3rd round pick and always a defense-first player – he was never an "experiment", but instead just a steady stay-at-home defensemen who was always ticketed to be a bottom 4. He was fine in that role: steady and not very noticeable, which is precisely what you want in a young, bottom 4 d-man. It might have been helpful for you to know also that Kent Hughes had a history with Harris (despite it being his predecessor, Marc Bergevin, drafting him) as Hughes' son Jack, was teammates with Harris at Northeastern. In a perfect world, Harris would still be manning the blueline in Montreal if not for the fact that the Canadiens had too many young and capable d-men in their system (that's why they traded Jonathan Kovacevic as well) and had to make room, especially given that by the end of last year, Jayden Struble showed a higher ceiling than Harris. The rest of your analysis is fine as yes, Laine's swagger and pedigree was something that the younger players on the team needed to help them reach another level and kudos for recognizing the value that Alexendre Carrier has brought in stabilizing the defensive pairings. There is a lot of runway left on this season and I am not the type to rise and fall in expectations based on the team's immediate performance, but even if the present run wanes somewhat, this is what Hughes was gunning for in acquiring Laine: making winning hockey games a part of the next level of the re-build. As witnessed this past week, they are even doing it without Laine in the line-up. As for his future in Montreal, I would be very surprised if he were still a Hab after his contract expires and it is quite possible he could be moved at the 2026 deadline depending on how serious of a contender the team is and the progress of Ivan Demidov.

  4. So hard to say. His first game was something. Does seem like that did light fire in habs. And then you put Carrier and Dobes pieces on table and things seem to really click. I do have faith that Laine will leave his mark in Montreal moer than just the opening hot streak.

  5. Harris playing with the Habs was not a fail Good player with good stats . Next time try doing some research.

  6. So sorry about the whole harris thing I used the complete wrong choice of words there i should have done more research again my fault if that came out wrong my next video I’ll shoot for an even longer and better video

  7. Laine seems to be very fragile, he looks like a 40 year old man, when you see him in person.

  8. He didn't change his number with montreal because he needed a fresh start.. He changed his number because 29 is hanging in the rafters..

  9. Thank you for the video. I completely agree, Laine is a lajor talent and we were lucky to get him for hardly anything. He still is not in game form but watch out when he does. Finally, Laine is still young and still has a lot of room to improve just like our whole top 6. The furur is very bright. I just hope Laine wants to stay with us.

  10. The bottom line as of Jan 11 2025 – Laine absolutely loves it in Montreal and is appreciated in Montreal …. he is now part of a close knit team and he ain't leaving.

  11. Laine has t scored an even strength goal this season and has been out with the “flu” for almost 5 games. He’s probably back in the program for sad boys again. He’s been a loser his whole life and going to Montreal isn’t going to fix that. Only a matter of time till he destroys that locker room also.

  12. I went ahead and subbed on all 7 of my accounts just to help a fellow small youtuber out. This is not my channel lol.

I see you're getting dinged in the comments section for some things that are really subjective. Dont worry about it. If you have an opinion, someone will be mad about it. Unless you're factually wrong, just keep going. Its fine if they change your mind but you dont need to apologize for updating your views. You are not an infallible source of wisdom, neither are your critics. Make them prove it to you that you're wrong before you kowtow to them. If they do change your mind, then make a follow up video for later. Even more content.

  13. I would love for Laine to work out but I have big fears it's going to be play a few games, miss a bunch of games, play some more miss some more. Eventually go cold, develop a sour attitude and then fizzle out.

  14. Quite enjoyable. Great voice. Laine scored tonight from his usual spot, but we lost 2-1 in OT to Dallas. This team is exciting to watch. Hutson is unbelievable, the goaltending is as solid as it has been in years. They are getting better every game and Carrier has been a pleasant surprise. New sub.

  15. 3 player are part of the sudden rise of the Habs.
Patrick Laine came back and brought the PP goals
Carrier arrived and now every D is in his right chair if I can say
Dobes performances that bring back a certain trust in the n2 goalie

We could add Hutson and Dach, but both benefited of Laine's comeback. ( Carrier's arrival helped Hutson also)

Yes Hutson would add points to the board even without Laines and Carrier but….he gained tremendous experience on the first PP from Laine return , that boosted his confidence and with Carrier , the defense is stable, you get better minutes from Matheson since Hutson took the first unit. But all that allowed St-Louis to protect ,if I can say, Hutson from being tossed around at 5on 5 since all 3 pairs can play against any line of the other team, meaning that if you put Hutson on the first pair, always against the first line of the other team, it would kill him at one point.
    Think about it
Savard, Hutson, Matheson, Gulhe, Carrier and Xhekaj
You don't have to count on 1 D to be the savior, everyone on the team have his role, some for the PP, some for the PK, some for their ratio and the side of the face-off
I'm pretty sure that even all 4 offensive line can play against any first line. Probably the first and second line would have the hardest time 🤣😂🤣

For years all the DGs that passed in Montreal were always looking to bring a big superstar player to save the team… but this shit right here! It starts to look alot like a "TEAM", meaning one for all and all for one!
I think that the being a team mindset help Laine alot. He wasn't coming to be THE player, he was joining THE TEAM. Less pressure and more love 😁

  16. Lets not count the wins, before the team makes it to the playoffs / further. You don't wanna end up like the Leafs. I really enjoy how the team plays though, very gutsy. – Avs fan

  17. This trade has been good for both teams as Habs are best in the east from last 15 games and CBJ are 4th in the east, last 10 games they both have top 2 spots as habs are 1st and CBJ are 2nd

  18. When he was here in wpg, it was electric, I hope he plays to his capabilities every night, he deserves it, and so does Montreal.
