Trade him. Too old and expensive to be part of a rebuild. Sooner we trade him, the sooner we move closer to picking top five to ten this spring. Last thing fans want, is yet another ( just outside of the playoffs) finish….yuck
Toronto is looking very good and could use a deal. Make treliving over pay for Anderson, give us a 1st and Easton Cowan and we will talk.

He said he wants to stay but we have heard that before. If he's here after the TDL I suspect he becomes the next Captain.
Andersson is durable, has not missed many games in the last 7 seasons.
If the Flames sign him for 8 x $8M he'll be in their top 4 for at least 5 years, and probably captain too.
But if they trade him now for sure they'll get good draft picks and a centerman.

Why would we keep a guy who will be almost 30 by the time he signs a new 8-year deal???? Plus he'll want at least 8 million dollars a year, a big no thank you unless he's willing to take a team-friendly contract. You have Parekt, Brzustewicz, Morin, Poirier and Mews all coming and you will most likely resign Kevin Bahl. If you're getting another Elias Lindholm haul in return it's a total no-brainer to move him. You could easily pick up another respectable D-man in the summer to bridge the gap before our prospects are ready. He could be captain, great but captain of what? A team that misses the playoffs one year and sneaks in the other only to lose in the first round? You can't have your cake and eat it too, move him while his value is at the highest. Zary is gone for the season anyway.
Conny will be open to moving Ras at the deadline for the right price, but after all those underwhelming trades during last season plus Tom Fitzgerald whining publicly about the asking price for Markstrom. There isnt going to be an offer good enough to get a deal done before the deadline.
Conny will end up negotiating an extension with Ras in the off season, and if Ras is asking for too much and not budging, then Conny will move him before the season starts to maximize the return.

Before I thought trade Anderson. After seeing teams like Anaheim and Buffalo. If Anderson really wants to stay, keep him. He wanted to be this teams camptin. Sure, he will be old at the end of the contract. Flames prospect won't be ready to be paid big bucks for 5 years. Who knows what the salary cap will be by then. Someone needs to show the next generation how to be successful in NHL. Flames don't want to bottom anyway.
