  1. Go Oilers Go. Go Senators Go.

Great win for the Edmonton Oilers over Chicago Blackhawks. Waiting for Ottawa Senators to defeat Dallas Stars and Washington Capitals to make it 26 teams defeated by my favorite teams Senators and Oilers combined in the 2024/2025 season.

  2. The Oilers need a RD not a LD. The Oilers need a Elite goalie or a shutdown RD.

  3. Don't worry about Pickard. He's a decent BACKUP goalie. He's not a star goalie, but for a million bucks on the Cap that you can bury in the Minors when needed, he's a smart choice and is understood to be a great teammate. One more goalie for the playoff taxi squad would be great, but it would need to be another contract at under $1.15M Cap.

  4. After for what the commenter said about the hawks goalie having the worse NHL goalie stats in the NHL , and to find any goalie that came close to having the same stats , a person have to go back 90 years . When I herd this , I was thinking this game should be a blow out , but it wasn't , it was so bad , i was getting ready to put a paper bag over my head . The only thing that was any good was the Oilers win and the flames beat LA , = Oilers gain 2 points over the kings . If the Oilers wants to be a Stanley cup contender , they have to play a lot better hockey . Just maybe they need a better goalie or better defense .

  5. Goalie talk continues because Skinner hasn't proved he is a Legit #1. Skinner to Anaheim for Gibson with Ducks retaining 3 million for his remaining 2 seasons. The other Skinner trade him at the deadline leaving room for Kane to come back.
    Gooooood Day!

  6. Another day another update after work with my beer 🍺 just keep winning Oilers. Thanks for your update Patrick 👍

  7. Glad for the win. Wish Oilers could have kicked the Hawks ass 10-0. I live 20 miles from the United Center. I was blacked out. Why? The lousy Chicago teams – none which I care about anyhow or want to watch or ever do watch – have all gotten together to create a regional sports network. I think it costs $149 a month. I could live so close to the United Center that I could see the building and if I didn't subscribe to their channel, I couldn't see the game. Hawks have treated their fans like shit for decades. Edmonton is about 1700 miles away, yet I can see almost every Oilers game. Work is the only reason I miss any game. So, I live in their 'market' yet I'm blacked out. They really care about the fans, I mean money. You think they'd give you the option of paying a onetime fee to watch a game. Say, the price of a ticket. $89? I'd pay. Not even that option. No matter what crummy team you wanted to watch you'd have to pay for all of them. Unfortunately, a lot of cable is like that. Greed.

  8. Pickard looked uncomfortable from the first shot of game where that high shot seemed to handcuff him. Strange coaching tonight, first Skinner is just getting his game going again and he’s scratched for Ryan who brings nothing to the lineup, Drai and Connor fill in at fourth line centre if you can’t take a regular shift you shouldn’t be in the lineup. Secondly the only line that has anything going in the first was the Drai line they score 30 seconds into the second and the goal scorer Pods gets moved off the line, I know some had to do with Brown getting benched but Brown played a regular shift in the 3rd.

  9. I find when I watch an oilers game, there is always something wrong. Slow start, goalie no good, no hitting, guys playing bad, guys not trying, etc . Whereas when I watch a Montreal game, especially at the forum, it is exciting, lots of new young talent, good goaltending. Much more fun to watch and enjoy, just enjoy.

  10. A very good morning to you Patrick and all Oilers from cold Germany 🥶!
In memory of a good rock and called Foreigner I only wanna say "i wanna know what defense is, I want you to show me!".
Horror to see them defending the slot!!! Good they won, but I watched the senators against the Penguins before, Senators won 5:0 in Pittsburgh, where we lost.
Cheers from Germany have a good night, i will have breakfast now, no LA Bamba for this win, please

  11. Each Black Hawks goal features an Oiler player's name on it. Goals #1 and #2 were by Brett Kulak and goal #3 was by Connor Brown. Both played poorly in their zone. McDavid loses the puck in the offensive zone too often and creates turnovers. When McDavid's line is in attack mode, Hyman is next to the opposing goalie and is naturally the last one to return. That's why McDavid, as a center, should be able to return, and so should Nuge. I'm not too happy about this win in Chicago. With mediocre goaltending, the Oilers must control the puck better in their zone.

  12. Game 42. Long post follows with base game statistics including some for the Chicago Blackhawks. Read, don't read, up to you. These are BASE stats not detailed ones. My comments and observations at the end.

Still feeling awful and still waiting on eye surgery so personal comments will be limited.

Pickard started slow and really wanted the first 2 back I'm sure. The 3rd one, yeah, that was clean but he first two were bad. The boys seem to be having a problem starting on time as they don't tend to wake up until the 2nd period it seems (sometimes the 3rd period). They were ahead in faceoffs until the 3rd period.

Per the stats, Oilers outshot Chicago by a lot (34 to 22), won fewer faceoffs (21 to 27), were outhit (18 to 27), had more giveaways (13 to 9), fewer takeaways (6 to 7) but more blocks (13 to 11). By the BASE numbers (not things like 5 alarm shots etc.) it was a close game and it was. The Oilers took the lead on the PP goal by Hyman and shut it down even though they faced over a minute of 6 on 4 at the end and Pickard had to make some great saves. Oilers PP and PK were both 100% (and Chicago's were both 0%). Not a lot of penalties (which seems to be more the norm for the Oilers these days).

It's a Win, Play La Bamba Baby. On the plus side BOTH Vegas and LA lost tonight in regulation and the Oilers are now 2nd in the division by 2 points over LA (though LA has 2 games in hand) and are 4 back of Vegas (with same # of games played). We play LA next so that's a biggie. We win that we get some breathing room in 2nd. VGK faces the Wild who can beat you. Chicago faces Calgary next (and Calgary were the ones that did us a HUGE solid by beating LA tonight with the Rangers beating VGK).

    Take care all.

  13. 2 points despite the terrible start again. Next three opponents will not let you back in from a sloppy start.
Agree on Gibson and trying Rodrigue. He needs some experience prior to an injury. Thanks for the rundown
