  1. I think the players in the CHL would have to be accepted to attend the NCAA college to attend to be able to join the team. At that point can the CHL block someone from going to college as normal kids would do after high school? I would have to believe there is some kind of small print in the league contracts to allow for a player to leave to attend post secondary schooling.

  2. The biggest thing with Kaprizov is that we've seen this type of high production play, but never this early in a year…
If he can keep this up or even 90% of what he's doing, he's a Hart finalist.

  3. Thanks for the video! No news on Boesser is a little scary. I think Fabbro will clear. One of the downsides of ESPN+ in southern WI is the Wild being the blackout team. Glad for Matthews. Jarry is more problematic than anything else. He's had a good career even if it ended this year. Turcotte has taken some time to develop with little to show for it. When a young player gets their first concussion, I start to worry, and Turcotte has had two as well as other injuries. I feel bad for him and hope he gets back soon to prove me wrong.

  4. Feels like it would be a bit hypocritical for the CHL to restrict player movement now that the NCAA has lifted (most) restrictions on player movement.
Remembering that, if you sign a deal with LITERALLY any incentive during your NHL dealings (not just financial) you're disqualified from NCAA.
And the more obvious part is if you play any time whatsoever with an NHL team.
Remember, even the Zamboni driver that beat the Leafs was being paid by the Leafs.
Age gap notwithstanding, the CHL needs to be careful.
There are TONS of smaller players (in that 5'6 to 5'-9 range, in particular) who wouldn't be called up to the NHL, lest they were an all-time great asset, like a Martin St. Louis or Connor Bedard.
And even then, the ceiling for failure is still pretty high.
The CHL, in particular the QMJHL, has taken steps to shorten the season in order to increase academic acuity, and butting heads with the NCAA over player movement just seems contrary to that stance.
I think the only restriction there should be preventing in-season player movement.
Which would be doubly hypocritical due to numerous NHL teams poaching stars to supplement their playoff runs (as the Kings, Sharks, and Ducks have all done in years past. Just to name a few.
Personally, I've come to know numerous CHL players over my years of sponsorship and player development (media and marketing, primarily) and there are a multitude who never become NHL players and pass on Canadian collegiate hockey due to a lack of scholarship support but WOULD have gone to the US had that been an option.
Whatever comes of it, I hope that this opens a dialogue between Canadian and American amateur hockey institutions (CHL, NCAA, et al) that leads to a more player positive outcome.
We've seen enough of NCAA athletes suing video game companies over rights usage. And it's been determined by enough boards and committees that these young men are that first and hockey players to be traded like cards second.

  5. Cause everyone likes making the comparison of Kaprizov to McDavid..
For them to be perfectly equal on the season (games played, goals, assists, games with a point) McDavid would need 6 goals and 11 assists in his next 4 games with at least 1 point in each game played.
And maybe less likely, Kaprizov would need to not get a point vs Chicago tomorrow.
Is it nuts that he would need to go three straight games without a point to match games without a point to 3 point games??

  6. Are American kids currently eligible for CHL? If not, could the CHL just open it's doors to American juniors to provide an opportunity to develop more 16-18 year old players in Canada? I think this would be a reasonable trade off, if it's not already an option.

  7. itll mostly be players that have aged out of the CHL that go on to play in NCAA, I imagine. Most canadians that end up in the NCAA are guys that have aged out of Junior A, then play college from 20-23 / 21-24. The guys that join the NCAA at 18 and get drafted to the NHL and all that are the exceptions

  8. I think it’ll help the talent that are going to the 2nd 3rd or 4th round that are definitely not gonna get a roster spot playing with kids but might round their game out to become a better hand later on. But it overall depends on if the chl cares for the lesser talents that aren’t star players. It’ll definitely give those guys a better way into the ahl and fit into the system of the team drafting them

  9. Holy smokes that Kaprizov stat is INSANE!!! When will Kaprizov start getting the respect he deserves!

  10. Regarding Minnesota, As I said a couple weeks ago, Kaprizov is playing the Best Hockey in the NHL, He's really become a Hybrid Wing of sorts, at the Beginning of the season,I predicted he would score at least 120 points up to 150, nobody is calling me Crazy now , Having ROSSI at Center opens up the Game for Kaprizov, I've watched and played Hockey for 62 years the Only player that I've watched who's better at passing
Is Wayne Gretzy, Kaprizov is now coming into his own and I suspect this will be his new standard, his Edge work I believe is the Best, with Markar a close second, although I think Markar is a better Skater up and down, Your watching GREATNESS STARTING TO UNFOLD
DENNY FROM WHAT THE HELL ARE SMOKING

  11. Kaprizov is a huge deal in Minnesota. Any time I go to the X there is nothing but fans in kaprizov jerseys (me included) it’s really something like ive never seen before. He’s definitely our first hockey super star and he means a lot to Minnesota sports fans

  12. When Turcotte comes back the Kings should waive Jeannot. Helenius looks like he's ready for the big club.

  13. If a player gets drafted and then goes to the NCAA and plays for a year and then goes pro does that get players to the AHL a year earlier?

  14. hopefully for my friends that are Penguins fans the conditioning stint will have been good for Jarry because it sucks to see what happened to him from outside that fan base

  15. Checking in to see opinions on Fabbro thriving with 9gp/3g/3a +14 w/ 22:12 ATOI as of 12/2/24
