What exactly has he done for Winnipeg other than being from here? No disrespect to his playing career he was an awesome player.
I don't think Toews will be in shape to to be coming back for this season. Realistically, it's looking to be next season.
He doesn't fit our roster. We have great leadership in our dressing room already and also a very deep line up as far as forwards. If he was Patrik Kane than absolutely!!!!

There is no comparison between toews n Hendricks…toews is 5x better now than Hendricks ever was n I haven’t even seen him skate in 2 years..there is no downside… at worst you try him out n if you don’t like what you see you don’t sign him..but don’t underestimate this man he’s a winner n might surprise everyone n be a great pickup

No Brainer it would also keep us from spending on a forward at deadline and can use assets aquire a dman like Sanheim,Byram,Parayko,Pulock,Savard,Anderson,Pettersson.

I been saying it for years get guys who want to play here,win and it matters to them similar how Toronto was signing,Simmonds,Thornton,Marleau,Giordano,Spezza maybe getting guys in TNSE 12 months a year being involved in community not just going home after season/overseas. Heisinger,Chevy,Keane,Roy,Flaherty are getting older having Toews take on when retires a role with team or others is important. Similar how Spezza is under Dubas maybe Toews can learn from Chevy.
Baumgartner has taken job Assistant Coach with Ottawa but even that if we can create atmosphere of guys maybe Helm,Calvert,Hamonic,Zajac,and guys from Western Canada/Northern Ontario. Help them onto higher levels maybe they start with Moose organization.
At this point I don't see him being as bad as Hendricks but maybe more between a Gagner/Perreault a 4th liner but if needed could play anywhere bottom 9 injuries. Help younger players even if he stayed 2yrs Lambert,Chibrikov,Lucius,Yager even Scheifele taking faceoffs learning from Toews is valuable. He doesn't have to be better then Namestnikov or Lowry just better than Kupari,Barron,Gus,Appleton.
Chevy would be foolish not to check this out. Signing him to a PTO would be a no-lose situation for the Jets.
The hard part is not knowing just where his fitness/conditioning level is & how long it would take him to get in game shape. However, even as a 4th liner, he would be a massive upgrade over all other options they have for face offs.
Where is this rumor even coming from? This is totally unrealistic. People underestimate how incredibly difficult it is to come back after even a few months of not playing, especially at age 36
If we do get him then that frees up 3, 4c players for trade. Gusbus namestikov and kupari. That would/could help getting a huge player like pettersson or a top 4D. Toews would help on the 2nd pp unit and would help with faceoffs. Playoff knowledge is very valuable so its a tough situation. Never mind the jets making probably 1 million dollar from jersey sales.
Last years trade deadline acquisitions messed up the Team Chemistry.
That said, Line 2 sucks !! Feel for Ehlers

If you want to monkey around with Toews on the fourth line, fine. But the elephant is still in the room.
They’re not going to win a cup with the D as it is. When Samberg is back to 100%, Stanley has to be 100% gone. Period. There I said it. Nothing against the guy but he’s not cutting it.

Not going to lie it would be nice. But not going to lie. Im not sure if i would want to do this trade because hes most likely still very hockey smart but his body might be a different sorry. Plus, if hes on the second line. Look at how Sean moahnahan turned out. He was good and smart but he could keep up with ehlers. Its probably going to be the same with toews. Specially, with his age. But thats just my thoughts. Go jets go.
Sign him 900k. He can play 4th line centre or not even play that much at all. Having veteran presence/winners presence on the team is a huge boost. Hell if he is better than he ever was before in a few years throw him onto line 2. Pre-retirement toews was a top faceoff taker too. Hell if we sign him we might win the cup.

Take a real shot for Pederson. Heinola, namistikov, lambert and barlow… Add iafallo for a salary dump Gustav and barron can do the same job for 3 mil less

Hard to know if you can come back from a few years off, but if he's even half of what he once was, he'd be an improvement over many of the current Jets forwards.

but can he still play? I'd love to see this comeback story happen, but nostalgia is not going to win us a cup. If he feels healthy, and most importantly can contribute. I would love to see him join up.
Hes past his prime. The only thing is maybe he would be a good passer. But thats aboout it.

I said before the season, sign Toews, come trade deadline, trade for Kane if Detroit's not making the playoffs.
The only other person I'd want is Marc Andre Fluery as backup but since they're making the playoffs, lets make a play for Quick!

I couldn't agree more. If he is 80 % of what he used to be, he is worthy every little penny that the Jets would like have to pay for him.
And what's more you'll get a no-BS dude who simply doesn't allow anybody else to fool around, because he himself wouldn't return to hockey just to make a few more bucks and have fun. He will only do this for real and that is being in Captain Serious mode.
