Rangers center Sam Carrick is not a noted goal scorer but he came up big in overtime, stripping Devils star Jack Hughes, then finishing off a two-on-one for a 3-2 win over the Devils. Carrick credited teammate Reilly Smith with a great pass for the goal and feels the team is “getting its identity back.” Smith called it, “one of our most complete games of the year,” and defenseman Adam Fox, who scored on the power-play earlier in the game, said the team was “confident” going into the overtime period.

Carrick said it best that other teams need to know that its going to be a hard night when they come in to face the Rangers. Certainly it is when Carick and the third line are on the ice. Now Carrick should lead the team to a new beginning. Carrick is an intense player that wears his heart on his sleeve.
