it is pretty much up to the players to get their heads ready for each game and make a commitment to give it everything. no one is holding these players accountable when they don't show up every night. coaches and the GM should be holding them accountable, but you may ask what can they do ? if they are going to stand around and give up eight goals ( 3 X this year ? or is it 4 X ? how many games plus 5 or 6 goals given up ? ) let the boys know that tomorrow will be a three hour no pucks practice. three hours of sheer joy doing skating sprints and suicide drills. put plastic barrels in each corner for the puke. this is a multi million dollar business and the Bs are in candyland. marchand is not a good captain in the sense that chara and bergeron were. they showed up every night and were respected. marchand is a good player, but not a good captain. he and pastrnak are too selfish too often. give kastelic the C. he is the only logical player who fills that player profile. who cares if marchand is offended ? he's not a good captain. can anyone name a single game where it was evident that the Bs roared back because of his intervention ? put coyle and big Z on waivers. if you lose them, so what ? coyle has averaged 17 goals for his entire career and that is not worth 6 M. he has topped 20 ONCE for the Bs in his 5 years here. big Z is a bust. if someone takes them, use the 11 M you'd save on them for a real player who can score. replace Z with some other 1 M stiff who would play just as well. i like coyle but he is not worth half of his 6 M and obviously he can live with his level of play. some games you score and some you don't, but coyle sucks this year because he rarely shows up anymore. he is invisible most nights. some nights he fights in the corner and crashes the net, and some nights he plays like an old woman. if you can't get yourself up to give the effort to play hockey for a living and get paid millions doing it, i don't want you around. i'd like to see the charlie coyle of three years ago at half the price. how does sweeney pay coyle 6 M per year for his 17 goals average, and then he doesn't have the money to pay heinen 2 M for his 17 goals ? blow this entire franchise up. you can keep putting patches on this crap wagon and we'll be here in 5 years saying the same stuff. keep pastrnak, only because he is too talented, and take offers for everyone else. give your new GM 15 draft picks and we'll suck for a few years and then maybe have a canadiens / islanders / oilers type run. anything is better than watching unwatchable hockey played by mediocre prima donas.
