  1. It’s wild that the trade value of third pairing defensemen and backup goalies are netting big returns this year. It will be a good year to send out Ceci, Ferraro and Rutta.

    If Grier can pull another 3 picks out of the next draft he may have enough capital to move back up into the 1st.

    I'd argue this is a bit debatable. They gave us a late third but we also sent Emberson back. Emberson's value likely wasn't a third, but considering it's a late third and we sent an early third for Thrun, I don't think it's THAT far off of his value. It's been discussed recently that Emberson and the Oilers are close to signing an extension, so I don't think it was just a throw-in to even out contract numbers.
