these conversations alwways come up because of the mushy middle of the flames. i vote we try and change the pattern, do nothing and tank. maybe trade aways older guys.

Trade Sharangovic + to the Rangers for Lafreniere, then trade Gridin the Devils first in 2025 and your second round pick for Dylan Cozens. That will ignite the red mile for the 2025 playoffs. Kadri is ready to fight Draisiatl in the playoffs. Make the moves, Conroy. One last dance at the Saddledome is necessary. 🍻
Pinder is spot on
These things take time to build. Pinder is arguing to wait until a later date, but your opportunities should be taken when you can improve.
Also can Pinder listen long enough to hear a complete sentence from the others. If you can improve your assets they will be more valuable to trade into something that fits better.
Pinder was spot on when he said, "if the goal is the cup, then you have to pick top 5 multiple years". Calgary sucks at sucking, that is our current issue.
In 5 yrs zary ,wolf, and zebras would all be 28 and in there prime.
Zegras was a 9th overall pick, Wright was 2nd. Isn't getting them giving the Flames better odds of success than picking the next Naill Yakupov?
Both could be traded out if they don't fit, and its easier to trade younger guys than a Kadri or a Zibanajad.
Hitting the bottom will negatively affect Wolfe, Vladar or Coolie.
Playoff experience is good for the younger players.
They need to make decisions on the young guys in the line up and decide who stays and who goes to make space for the picks you want to obtain and the group of Wranglers. This is a dilemma no one talks about. Movement is part of a rebuild.
If Conroy could snag both of these guys that might fix a lot of things. You don't know if you don't try.

Zegras is the last thing the Flames need.

Here is my problem with what Pinder is arguing.. if you take the Dallas Stars who have been to a cup final AND multiple fair playoff runs in the past decade, they have not drafted in the top 5 in 10+ years. HIGHEST they have drafted.. 12th in the past decade. We then take the Oilers, who have A TON of draft picks in the top 5… and yet 1 SCF without a cup. THAT was with multiple first round picks. I think it is more about the GMs game plan rather than how well a team can tank. The Panthers are a good example. YES the panthers have the top draft picks, BUT they did not draft all of them. Tanking just to pick people doesn't always work. Ask Chicago how its going as they are about to draft top 3 yet again.
Zegras is not the guy. If you go drafting, you need to draft D, and develop them, which takes 5 years lots of times, possibly more. The fact Anaheim has him available says everything. You do possibly need to give these old dogs their chance at a good run, or move them to situations they get that opportunity. I would trade almost everyone, draft top 5 multiple years, and get ready for the new arena. Zegras is a 0.5 ppg guy for the last two years, he’s not a solution.
Ah yes, Zegras and the Anaheim Ducks have certainly not been a bottom 10 team his entire career lol it’s not like adding Zegras automatically makes the flames a playoff team
The only way zegras makes sense is if it's next year and do sign a trade with term. I see what Pinder is saying why give away assets not knowing if he is going past 2026. And for Anderson I do believe he is one of the pillars that you can build a team around. I say ride it out until the summer and if he doesn't want to resign in the summer, you flip him at the draft floor. To me that is good asset management and not having to pay a premium on a free agent to bring in if you can keep your own guy. You know what he's about. You know his game and what he can bring to the table.

I just think what if the trigger was pulled in 2019 for Dillon Dube and a first to Ottawa for Mark Stone. He may have been the leader we needed to drive us and lift us past Colorado that year.
Trevor Zegras is not an NHL caliber player. Full stop. Hurray he can do the Michigan, bring that shit back to the ball hockey rink where it belongs. The kid is a centre that can't play D. Has nobody told him a centre is basically a glorified Dman? I can't stand hearing rumors he's coming to calgary. I bet he's playing in Europe in less than 3 years
You could take Zegras and then trade Anderson, Kadri, and maybe Backlund, Coleman, and Weegar….trust me you will then be sucking plus you can add 3 bad contracts with 2-3 years left and get 3-6 1 round picks back for taking on the bad contracts.
Add bad contracts like Vlasic from San Jose and John Campbell from Edmonton, Krug from St Louis. Each has 2-3 years left.
