Joe, I get what you're saying about the bonus but the Sabres know this already so if they are in it and want him that bad than they are willing to pay it. I prefer Byram, slightly better skater and I think he thinks the game faster. What I don't like about Power is he shows no emotion, I'd like to see him break a stick over the crossbar because a goal scored was his fault instead of putting his head down and skating to the bench

THE FACT WE ARE LAST IN THE EAST AND ARE POISED TO HAVE A VERY VERY HIGH 1ST RD DRAFT PICK WITH COZENS AND BYRAM SHOULD BE MORE THAN ENOUGH….MAYBE DO TOP 5 PROTECTED AND ADD A GOOD PROSPECT LIKE KULICH. AGAIN….IF WE WANT PETTERSON AND HE HAS NO LOCKER ROOM ISSUES AND WILL GET BACK TO BEING ELITE (WHICH HE IS NOT RIGHT NOW BTW) – THEN YES.

Vancouver can keep Pettersson as far as I'm concerned. Sabres already have enough soft, overpaid, underperforming players who don't hit. Sabres need grit, get a guy like Mathieu Olivier or Tanner Jeannot. Having guys like that make everyone else play a meaner game, and that's what this team needs. I'd stick with Power for now unless the return is impossible to deny. He's only 22.
Why is every podcaster, youtuber, radio person, analyst in love with power? Dudes a pylon who constantly makes defensive mistakes. We dont need a defensemen that puts up points. Give up Power, sign Byram to powers contract. Give up cozens and power for petterson and one of their bigger more physical defensemen who can actually play some defense. Watching the Sabres score 3-4 goals a game and lose each game because they allowed 4-5 goals is super frustrating to watch. If you score 3-4 goals in a game you should be winning that game 75% of the time.
If Byram agreed to stay id be okay with giving Power. Rather give Power than an extended Byram. I dont think Power has showed the potential Byram has imo.

If I’m Vancouver I’m definitely trading for one or two of the young veterans on the Sabres. Cozens, Power? Both? Why not? They’ve never won their first Cup, and adding a good young Sabres veteran has become the last step needed for franchises to win their first championship over the past five years or so.
Pettersson is declining . I wouldn't be trading Power and Cozens for him. Maybe Power + Ostlund for Pettersson, Vancouver retains $3 million of P's contract.
can we get info on Pettersson's defensive and face-off numbers? Cozens has become weak. I remember when he would be willing to fight anyone and stick up for his team mates and you don't see that from him anymore. Powers problems can be fixed you just don't know if he will ever do it. He doesn't battle in front of the net let alone tie up a man, he doesn't hit, he can't shoot a one timer. But the first 2 are huge factors for a D-man. So, I'd say do it if you can get Myers and a 2nd/3rd round pick back as well. Be nice to get your thoughts on what the Sabres do to the D pairs if this were to happen.
14 years ago… they also had Ryan Miller… UPL has reverted back to the goalie he was in the minors… and he's not good enough to carry Millers gear…Petterson for either power or Cozens 1 for 1 is lopsided… for both power and Cozens flipps things but still lopsided. If Pettey came with a top level prospect… I could do it.. really, Byrum vs Power I see them as pretty even… Power is younger… Bo is more established….

Any team taking Pettersson off of the Canucks' hands is doing them a favor. He is not worth the $11.6 million as he is not the 100-point player that is claimed by some (he did it once). Good player? Yes, but not quite elite. Also, I doubt that he would sign with Buffalo as he would probably prefer to test the FA market when the time comes. The return for Pettersson will not be what some believe unless the Canucks retain a significant amount of salary.
