Are the Leafs FINALLY primed for a Conference Final appearance?

Through 41 games this season, the Maple Leafs sit atop the Atlantic Division with 54 points, second best in the East. With this mid-season success, is Toronto finally primed to make a Conference Final appearance? TSN Hockey’s Marty Biron and Cheryl Pounder share their thoughts.

  1. They need to worry about more than 1 win in the second round before they start thinking about the conference finals tbh

  2. Way too early to be making these statements. There is still A LOT of season left. Make videos like this after they’ve won a round. Asking this now not even halfway through the season is unprofessional

  3. Have to really ask yourself. If they draw the Panthers in round 2, it is impossible to take the Leafs in that matchup. That’s assuming the Leafs survive round 1

  4. But mathews and marner ( the gucci boys) will never be winners because they simply care about how their hair looks more than how their play looks come playoff time. The gucci boys are incapable of leading a winner.

  5. They're playing a better style this year, but it's hilarious watching Leafs fans getting their hopes up again. 😅

  6. I’d like to believe the Leafs will make it to a 2025 conference final but I still have serious doubts considering issues with depth scoring and the disappearance of too many of AM34, Marner, Will Nylander, Morgan Rielly and Tavares come playoff time.

  7. Probem with getting a center is they would have to go cheap or pay a big price to get someone good. I would rather see the leafs re-acquire kadri as he, or a player like him is the only one i can see making a difference for the leafs right now.

  8. Leafs sure have Capability to WIN, but it comes down to Positional Play, Teamwork and Player Visualization to conquer and Achieve.

    LEAFS CAN DO THIS !

    😅

  9. It's half way through the season, settle the f down. This is why everyone hates the Toronto sports media.

  10. they will NEVER win if they don't trade nylander, it just takes one good trade to make the team better. very simple, this guy does not give a shit if leafs win or lose, but just get a dog like tanev, on the wing, a player who will give his all in the playoffs.

  11. I don’t mean to be a salty naive leafs fan, although I’m about to come off that way, but I press play on the video and head Gino say “another successful first half” in respect to the leafs. And obviously these guys are about to rip on the leafs. But that’s a bs statement because they have never done THIS good. 3rd in the Atlantic. 2nd at most. Never 1st. You’re telling me a team that finishes 3rd every year and consequently gets out in the first round every year makes the team cursed. No. They just weren’t that good. They had locked potential. I’m not saying anything about how there recent performances will translate to the playoffs, as we very well could have another first round exit on our hands, but wouldn’t you say being in first, and with staying power despite many injuries, is a lot different than third or wildcard. Stop calling it a curse, and expect and want the most from your team instead of okay regular season performances year after year that get misinterpreted as great performances. Stop being surprised when an okay team doesn’t make it past the first round. Maybe it has nothing to do with playoff ability; I’ve seen the leafs get tougher every year. Maybe, just maybe, they weren’t as good as people thought they were (I know shocker right). So my point of this long drawn out comment for hearing a second of a TSN discussion is to say, stop speculating on the leafs in the playoffs. We don’t know how they’ll do. But previous years are not an indicator. They once were soft, much much lower in the standings, and had shitty defence. This is not our year. But it is change.

  12. The Leafs will be out in the first round AGAIN! Its basically the same team with a little bit better goaltending "That will be injured all the time" The Leafs can do fine in the regular season but in the playoffs all their warts will be exposed once again. They spend WAY to much time in their own end, and very little time in their opponents end, their forecheck is non-extant, and they still don't have enough scoring other than the top players. If you watch the Leafs play, they spend most of their time defending in their own zone, flip the puck out, get a line change, and the puck is right back in their end with them defending all over again. You can get by in the regular season but it will all come crashing down AGAIN in the playoffs.
