WORLD JUNIORS & WILD CARDS with Anze Kopitar & Eric Engels Episode 539

On Episode 539 of Spittin’ Chiclets, the guys are joined by LA Kings legend Anze Kopitar to talk about playing in the World Cup of hockey, how his father prepped him for an intense style of hockey, and of course his cup runs. But first, as the World Juniors finished with USA coming out on top, what’s next for Canada hockey? The Eastern and Western Conference Wild card spots are in the air and the boys dive into several teams looking to punch their ticket into playoffs. Eric Engels, Sr. Sportsnet Columnist, joins the show to talk about the Montreal Canadiens in depth, what their keys to improving are, and just how good Lane Hutson actually is. This is an episode you won’t want to miss.

  1. Not sure if Chiclets has the power but they gotta start banging the Russia back at WJC drum. Still feels like something is missing when Russia isn't competing

  2. 10:50 as a Canadian, the US has us beat in developing players and goalies. This is my thesis:

The US spends so much more money on the AHL, NCAA, College and Universities compared to Canada. Like these American facilities, training and what not are just so god damn ahead of the curve. Simply unmatched. I see the next 5-10 years of US dominance.

  3. 12:45 listen to all the excuses! lol itsPATHETIC. Put some respect on the teams that show up to play and dont have to shout wOkE, SeNsiTiVe ShEePsH** ExCuSeS!!

  4. So happy i grew up in the era where i was at the school outside rink till lights turned off … hockey everyday … every season … it was life in Canada in the 90 s … then soccer arrive in north america … it s way cheaper … maybe the cheapest sport … immigration … in calgary every park are fill with cricket player and hockey rink empty

  5. Why doesn't Canada just copy what the USA does, make a Team Canada for each birth year and have them play year round against the CHL and maybe even NCAA Teams

  6. Kopitar will always be my favorite player of all time. An absolute beast on the ice and a world class guy off the ice too. 19th year in the league and still kicking. We've been extremely grateful to have him in LA for all these years.

  7. my daughter is a year and a half old and she already knows a bunch so sign language and it definitely helps as parents because she picked it up way faster than english and can tell us if shes hurt, wants more, hungry, etc definitely a good idea to teach it to children

  8. Wonder if G thinks Frederic to NJ is a good idea, since he got a hard on for Brady. Similar body types and NJ is looking for playoff hockey type guys.

  9. I listened in for the Habs section. I know nobody wants to say anything negative about the rookie but guys were talking around it so much I fell asleep and got kicked off the couch by my wife.

  10. Hats off to the Americans for taking home the gold. I do think though that Canada’s goal tending was one of the bright spots.

  11. Biz is right, im canadian. The only difference between my son playing direct entry and aaa is the cost, I don't have 15 to 25grand to pay for my kid to play

  12. Kings fan here, Kopi is up there with Kershaw and Kobe in terms of LA royalty. All world talent. All world class.
