Unfortunately I had to revisit last year's solution to defensive woes. Lilypad and Klinger, this season its questionable again. It also got me thinking about Mark Giordano and how great some of these D guys can be over a long healthy career. I'll never be a leafs fan but I have love and history with the game of hockey since Ian Turnbull on D.
McKee can be capable of being an absolute idiot at times. 30 minute mark, the discussion of Nylander's ice time. A beer league clown talking over Kypreos, and making ridiculous arguments.
Okay in regards to the drafts in 17 & 18, there needs to be context. 7 of those picks were 5th round or later, another pick is Ian Scott whose promising career ended because of injuries post-draft, and Sean Durzi who was part of acquiring Muzzin.
Not the best, and I understand how only Holmberg remaining with the organization statement makes sense, but you can also frame it as 3 NHL defencemen and an NHL forward from two drafts.
Plus a wildcard Russian in Kara or Kizimov, one has been playing well in the KHL, is only 26, and technically still has his rights owned by the Leafs.
They handled the Lilijigren situation pretty well. He didn't fit in the lineup and instead of moving picks to clear his salary they ended up getting assets in return. A 3rd and a 6th is decent return and they may move the D they got in a future trade.
Tavares is great. he wins faceoffs, scores goals, and sets up plays.
Pumped the Predators 5-1. The Podkolzin Draisaitl Arvidsson line is finally really clicking.
Regarding #88's ice team, no one has mentioned the 10-12 minutes of penalties the team is taking nightly! So, if you're not on the pk, that's a lot of ice team out the window.
Would you rather have had what muzzin was for a brief amount of time or what Durzi is now? Hated that trade but my point is the good picks have been sent out in bad deals. Foligno one was the worst trade in this era and those picks could be graduating now
