The Canes lost, 4-0, at home to the Minnesota Wild Saturday night. The game really started off poorly as Carolina was given a 4-minute power play early in the first period. But, they did nothing with it, generating just one shot on goal and it wasn’t even a deemed a scoring chance by the analytics community. The Canes two best chances to score in the entire game came just a few minutes apart as Sebastian Aho set up Seth Jarvis in front of Filip Gustavsson, but the Minnesota goaltender turned both aside. Pyotr Kochetkov made 24 saves in the loss. The Hurricanes have not won consecutive games since December 15 (Columbus) and 17 (NY Islanders).

I'm convinced that teams like the Bruins and Canes wouldn't even qualify for the playoffs in the Western Conference. And many of the Eastern Conference teams that they look competitive against during the regular season will annihilate them in a seven game series come playoff time. Tonight was like watching twelve over-entitled forwards named Kotkaniemi show their usual lack of focus, indifference, and fake hustle for sixty minutes of woefully inadequate hockey. The Canes need to retool at Center in a big way because even Aho is at best a 2nd line Center. Svech has looked like the second coming of Alexander Semin this year while over-hyped Jarvis looks like a small boy skimming rocks across a frozen pond.
It is what it is. At this point I've accepted this team is average at best, has many issues that will not be fixed this season and they are not built to hang with top tier competition.

Offsides on Chatty's goal sucked our boost out from said goal and we went back to being flat. SMH. Also, when Aho stared down that pass instead of shooting or looking like he would it was apparent we weren't in it.
