They don’t even make grades low enough for Lafferty and Joki
Biggest disappointment has to be Lukkonnen. What a a miserable save percentage.
My grades, I'm not doing + or –
Cozens – C, needs to learn to handle pressure but the ability is there, needs a mindset coach or something, not bad in the dot
Kozak – B, Good first impression but I'd be suprised if he kept that up
Krebs – C, budget Benson, doesn't impact the scoreboard often enough
Kulich – B one of his best strengths is his 2-way play and backchecking without taking penalties, killer shot
Lafferty – F, supremely ineffective
McLeod – C, definition of vanilla, not a noticeable difference maker, not a liability
Thompson – B, prefer him on the wing, often too predictable
Benson – B, feisty and grindy, great work ethic but a little undisciplined
Greenway – C, uses his size but lacks puck skill
Malenstyn – C, physical and gritty, makes a difference, one of the only players opposing teams dont like playing against
Zucker – A, well rounded vet and it's kinda sad to see him out perform everyone else on a nightly basis, our biggest difference maker along with Dahlin
Aube Kubel – F, invisible and bad at hockey
Peterka – C, Tends to miss open nets too often, worse shooter than Jeff Skinner but equally bad at D
Quinn – D, a little better lately, but holy crap he's been next to useless if he isn't scoring
Tuch – B, I expect more from a guy his age in terms of making smart plays under pressure and leading our team
Bryson – C, skating and passing isn't as bad as mentioned, he is what I expect out of a bottom 4 guy.
Byram – B, consistent but can be occasionally lazy, maybe he can get away with that in Buffalo. He's an RFA and I think he should go anywhere else but Buf.
Clifton – C, he isn't as bad as everyone claims, just no. People hate on him like they hate on Nickelback. Physical and not a bag of pucks.
Dahlin – A, almost gave him a B as he can be a liability a little too often for my liking but redeems himself as a difference maker
Gilbert – D, he is what he is, hasn't been a liability as much as Power or Joker
Jokiharju – F, obviously belongs in the press box every game
Power – D, Not only does he have shite hockey IQ but I question his actual IQ most nights, is he mentally delayed? Slow to break out of the zone and turns the puck over when he has plenty of time to make a play, seems to forget that he can check or play the body. Lets people post up in front of our net. The most frustrating player on our team for me hands down. I have no idea why everyone thinks he has a high ceiling, haven't seen it yet, stop blaming Joker, he screws up all by himself. He shouldn't be getting paid for his potential he should be paid for his effectiveness at his job.
Samuelsson – D, he hasn't been as knuckle-headed lately but that's a pretty low bar.
UPL – A, disagree with what was said about him. He's good enough to get us wins, our D and entire roster do him no favours. He would be excellent on many other teams. The one thing is he often lets in the first shot of a game, he isn't perfect but for less than 5m/yr he's the best anyone can ask for at that price. Name one goalie who plays for an equally bad team who gets paid less and plays better. I can't think of one.
Reimer – C, I don't trust him in net at all, he's been great and been awful. I miss Craig Anderson.
Levi – C, I'm not on the bandwagon yet. Let him cook in the AHL.
All this to say, I've completely given up on this team. Our loss to the Avs the other night was infuriating and didn't need to happen that way. This team, whether it's by their own doing or listening to Ruff plays a different style of hockey once they have a lead and they never learn their lesson. After 30+ years I'm more than over it and I'm not waiting around for things to change.
Need to get rid of joki
There are 9 players on the sabres who are at least 27 yrs old, isn't that enough vet experience to help this team ? Boston is the 5th youngest team, Colorado is the 9th and Vancouver is the 10th

went to high schol with Gilbert. My really good friend who was in his year played football with him on the freshman team (he hated it and didn't even like football but his parents wanted him to do it) where Gilbert was the QB . Last game of the season he accidentally tackled Gilbert on his own team!
