The Montreal Canadiens have moved within one point of the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference after a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche tonight. It’s hard not to get excited about a team that is playing fun hockey in front of young exciting goaltending.

Next year, don’t be mad if they don’t this year. Maximum two years.
Good points Jesse. First timer watching your podcast, as Arnold said, "I'll be back". Good graphics as well.
Thanks!!! 🙏 Go Habs Go!
With the refs help….
Is it too soon to not only envision the Canadiens clinching a playoff but foresee a first round exit by the Maple Leafs at the hands of said Canadiens?
Armia, Dvorak and Savard are gone after this season. I think Evans will be too. I understand the argument. But the habs need to grow not stay the same. Evans current year iproduction s not the norm.
Now wondering if the Leafs will target Evans for the playoffs!
Answer : No
Aria has been impressive, his board work is best on the team.
I think Dobes is the real deal. He looks huge in goal.
Habs looking much better as a 5 team unit.. 27 goals from the 4th line
In their last 10, the Evans line is the following:
Heineman:
4G, 5A, 9P
Armia:
3G, 3A, 6P
Evans:
5G, 3A, 8P
They have combined for 12 goals and 23 points in 10 games as 4th line guys. They are a huge reason we got these wins.
Heineman is a criminally underrated rookie. He averages the lowest deployment out of any guy on the habs (11:00 toi/g), is a rookie, and has 10 goals, 7 assists in 38 games. He is 4th on the team after only Suzuki, Caufield and Laine for points per 60 minutes.
Real habs fans are laughing at all the praise our future backup is getting hes not even the best goalie in our pipeline will also mention if were in the mix now with only one of our 4 first rounders playing games for us demidov not far off ppg in khl with like 10 minutes a night hage ppg as a freshman at michigan i get so excited at the laine demidov combo on line 2 the atlantic should be concerned ❤
its useless to make the playoffs if you dont win the stanley cup, cause you get a worse draft pick. thats why they should reward the teams that try and reverse the lotterie, 16th get the best odds and 1st the worst to get first pick.
I'd keep Armia and Evans really important role players. Evans was responsible for the turnover that lead to Caufeild Goal
Damnnn I miss Jesse! Can’t watch SDP cause of the other hosts but this guys takes and analysis are always spot on and unbiased. Didn’t know you had your own channel. Subscribed!
The Habs will lose the next 3 games in a row and will miss the playoffs
Jakub Dobes is the next Price
I said in the offseason all they needed to do was start to correct the goal differential they had last year and I'd be happy. It didn't look like they were progressing in the first few months but I like what I'm seeing now.
First video I watched from you – love the replay graphics!
Next year they’ll make the playoffs, the year after they’ll be competitive. Having Demidov and Fowler is gonna make a lot of difference and while they’re playing good this year the contracts of Gally and Anderson are a bit of a noose around our necks. When a few or those 6-7 mil a year guys move on or retire then we’re gonna have a nasty team. Our first line, as much as we love them, gets mollywhopped by just about every other teams first line. Something needs to change there too.
Is it just me or Dobes looks HUGE in front of the net?
Good stuff. Nice to see Leafs fans give us a bit of props!
Tks Jesse! Love it. You are right, this is exciting. We can hope. But remember that even the Sharks beat all the previous Stanley cup champion last year for a 10 game win streak. I have hopes, but will keep my expectation low.
Boston is fighting for the wc as well. 4 points clear yes but 5 more games played than Tampa, 3 more than some of the others. Zero chance Boston makes the playoffs if the season ended at 41 games.
Yessir! They have everything they need. This will be an exciting team to watch. Woo hoo. Lookout boys, here they come!❤😊
That's a major change of tune Jesse…
Great review Jesse ! As a Habs fan with the Leafs a close second, this vid was awesome because it brings attention to great up and coming players.
If Dobes starts yes because Montembeault sucks.
It's so hard to say in the Atlantic division, for years it's been the most competitive division in the league. I think they might push the last wild card spot in the east if they can stay relatively healthy and dobes goes on a mad heater. Either way it's going to be fun to watch
Jessie Blake you're good!
I've banged that drum throughout the entirety of the rebuild, and now I'm seeing I'm right! Everyone is """surprised""" to see how well the Montreal Canadiens are doing, yet it's been the absolute same tune for the past three years; NOBODY knows what a healthy Habs group is truly capable of. Well, FINALLY we know. Sure it's not cup contention territory (yet!!) but it's far better than what everybody and their moms thought of them, I.E. bottom feeders.
I thought MSL would put Dobes for Chicago, but he made a bet on Colorado which is amazing.
Playoffs? We're talking playoffs?
i still remember what emile heineman said in August 2023.. "You'll see me in October."
He is and was so underrated as a prospect. There are just so many players who were drafted in 2nd round (by another team in this case), it's hard to know for sure.
The Habs get one of the wild card spot and beat the Leafs in the first round, book it.
Its not only about just win its about who they win against also they beat twice detroit once tampa and florida 2x buffalo 1xphilly all in regulation they also beat CBJ 2x so all team that are figthing in this MIX or division rivals
Just worries me at trade deadline day if/when the Habs move or not Armia & Evans as they are [fantastic] & a huge part of our success right now?
Nice job Habs fan Jesse! 🤪 Demidov, Hage, Reinbacher, Fowler. Rest of the future core on their way soon, too.
I can only agree with you ! 100% good video, you deserve more
If Montreal makes it into the playoffs they could repeat the 2021 1st round upset of the Toronto Mapleleafs . It could happen . Steve Dangle would be very impressed 😅😂😅 A show for all ages🎉❤🎉❤🎉
Dobes = Ken Dryden V2.0
Armia has been on absolute fire since he was named to team Finnland. He went from maybe he's cooked to being a key player.
The acquisition of Carrier has enabled Martin Saint-Louis to put all his defenders in the right chair. Savard, who played on the 3rd pair, slowed down this year, allowing him to play fewer minutes and be more effective. He no longer has to play against the best lines.
Great analysis! I’ve been a Joel Armia fan ever since those Covid playoffs when he was playing on the most effective 4th line ever with Eric Staal and Corey Perry. He can contribute offensively and he’s one of the best in the league in forecheck. The way he protects the puck and tires the opponent is underrated. If i’m a contender, that’s a player I want in my bottom 6
Always liked your inputs on Steve's show. Nice to see you talk about the Habs for a bit
Type of hype i was searching after the habs win against the avs! GO HABS GO!!!!!!
