  1. The NHL fined the Dallas Stars $100,000 Monday for violating a collective bargaining agreement prohibiting on-ice activities and travel on certain dates during the holiday break.

  2. Oilers are the team to beat in the west for sure. Still confident that Florida is the team to beat in the east, although New Jersey is right there too.

  3. I’m bias as a Panthers fan, but I think we’re slightly more likely to make the finals. Just based on the path in the East seeming easier

  4. As a Sabres fan, I find it mildly amusing that Jeff Skinner was a healthy scratch in the Oilers' last game.

  5. There isn't anything wrong with the Panthers.
They are just watching the points and staying healthy by dropping a few here and there.
Panthers know the grind is coming.

  6. If Edmonton can heat up (even more than they already are), they will make the Finals.

  7. I can see a case for either team coming back or not, panthers have the style to return since they are physical and deep in their forwards, oilers have the top two players, HOWEVER, Panthers have had two deep runs recently and that can wear on them, Oilers aren’t deep on the blue line along with a mid level goalie

  8. You should do a video talking about the strength of both conferences, this year it seems the west has become the slightly more competitive conference with the unexpected rise of Vegas, Minnesota and Winnipeg. And the dramatic fall of the defending president trophy winning rangers out east.

  9. Throughout my time in the NHL I’ve yet to see a Stanley Cup Finals rematch and at this stage I’m not sure if we’ll get it his year as I wouldn’t be surprised if the Panthers make it three straight Finals but for Edmonton as much as I want to see McDavid win a cup I think right how it’s going to be a dogfight in my conference come playoff time

  10. Hurrah – a Florida video!! My sense on the panthers are that we are seriously missing depth, particularly puck-moving D. And our goaltending can be "variable" at times, although that's less of a concern. Lack of depth really comes out when our top guys just don't have the juice and/or motivation; and we don't have other guys who can really step up on those occasions. This is not a knock on our top guys as you can't play like that for 82 games, but it's really clear – particularly when we keep getting blown out by non-playoff teams… Hopefully, Zito can work some magic before the deadline but as much as I would absolutely love it, I'm not sure we're a complete contender at the moment.

  11. In a shocking – and highly confusing – twist, this year’s Stanley Cup Final will somehow be Nashville vs San Jose.

  12. Ive seen my Pens try and get to a 3rd straight final twice in my lifetime and they completely ran out of gas. Its extremely hard, now that being said the Eastern Conference is really bad so Florida has to be the favorite.

  13. I wonder how much of that 7% to win the cup is lower because they've made it the last two years I mean You can say it makes it likely they make it again lol

  14. Go Panthers! Would be great to see them win again. Also want to see Reinhart get 50+ goals again.

  15. I agree that the Panthers can lack motivation at times, playing down to lesser teams. Evidence for this is their 10-1 record this year against teams they recently faced in the playoffs. For the Panthers to advance, IMO it would be better for them not to face Tampa in the first round.

  16. I feel like there is a high chance for a rematch between these teams. I wouldn’t mind a rematch because it was very entertaining. If we get a different team that’s cool too, I know my team is already thinking of their U2 concert next summer.

  17. I would love a rematch of last years Stanley Cup. Of course, I am a Panthers fan, so I would give them the edge as I think they are restraining themselves for the long grind that is coming. I could be wrong, but last years Cup was such a stressful and beautiful event for me. I've been a Panthers fan since the beginning growing up in Miami. It was so incredible to see my wife turn into a hockey fan, texting her updates as she was working at the hospital. Then capping the series off with a game 7 win with her at home. Man, I want to experience that again!

  18. I really want Edmonton to win the Stanley cup. That is of course presuming the DRW don't make history in the second half of the season.

  19. I said they would meet in the finals again last year when the game 7 finished, and I'm still saying it. Don't see anyone else from either confrence stopping these two teams in a playoff series, like we saw last year, and none of the top teams from last year have improved enough or at all.

  20. The Oilers are and always will be, a Ferrari leaking oil. Fast, flashy and unreliable.

  21. Good breakdown, one area you didn’t cover was injuries. The Oilers have an artificially inflated cap space because Evander Kane is on LTIR. When he comes back, they are going to have shed $5.125 million to get him in. Unless they are going to apply the Marc Stone “rule” and have him show up fresh and 100% on game 1 of the playoffs!

  22. Interesting you didn’t mention regulation wins. A full 33% of Edmonton’s wins are 3-on-3 OT wins.

  23. I agree with your insight but I have no faith in the oiler goal tending. There has not been enough substance to believe in. I'm a Florida fan and in bobcat we trust.

  24. If the Oilers crush Florida in the finals, it will give NY Islanders – Edmonton Oilers 1983 and 1984 vibes.

  25. Swap Makar for Bouchard and the Oilers would be a dynasty for many years. LA would still find a way to play them in the playoffs lol

  26. How would Kane on ltir effect the oilers ? They could do what Tampa and Vegas did and they should. There time to go for it all is now.

  27. Oilers need to win it to stick it to all the haters!!! Getting tired of hearing people say McDavid isn't the best just because he doesn't have a cup even though a cup takes a team. We had Chiarelli for years, thats why he hasnt won yet.

  28. The Oilers had the perfect storm of opponents in last years playoffs, that won't be the case this year. The Knights will destroy them whenever they meet and we get the 2023 finals rematch, Panthers repeat in in 6 games vs the Knights!
