Don’t the Canucks have the Sedin Twins available to talk to Peterson?
I think spittin chicklets said that the NHL didn't want to compete with college football so that's why the game was scheduled for new years eve this year
There's no way Canucks trade Petey. The culture of the Canucks has been that of a calm composure for decades. Its almost stoic, as reflected in Swedish culture. Ever since the Canucks got Thomas Gradin back in the late 70's (who is now a senior scout, snatching up Swedish players) they have been a very composed team. Half the team and coaching staff is Swedish and some of the most notable players are Swedes. Daniel, Henrik, Naslund, Ohlund, Sundstrom, and now Lekkerimaki, Petterson (x2), Willander, Karlsson etc. Calm composed leadership. Thats been the Canucks identity for decades. Quinn Hughes, Connor Garland. Calm, composed, lead by example. And now we have JT, who has a long history of being the opposite. Players like this have not faired well here (Mark Messier immediately comes to mind). Trading Petey is turning your back on the core of what this franchise is (for better or worse). Trading JT, is more like realizing you never should've signed Messier in the first place. That calm composure is also present in Jim and Patrik. They are not emotional reactionary men who will bend to the will of the clamoring media. They may trade JT at a loss to right the ship and bring harmony. Hopefully JT can back off, give his head a shake and lead by example. Time will tell.
Swedes players are soft, the only exception is Peter "the great" Forsberg.

Re: Lane Hutson: i hear the hockey pundits frequently "dissing" Hutson because he's a "D" and doesn't have the # of goals that Celebrini etc have. That is a load of CRAP!!! Hutson has had an outstanding season at arguably the most challenging position in the game. He deserves to be up there with the "F" in the Calder conversation.
Re: Leurheux: definitely dirty hit. Playing like that he's putting a big bullseye on his back….tough guys will be going after him. He'd better keep his head on a swivel!!!!
Re: Pettersson/Miller: time for Miller to be moved if Pettersson is to thrive. It's not Miller's job to constantly jab Pettersson and he should be encouraging the kid not bullying him. Pettersson is a dynamic talent and they should be building the team around him. Miller, while a solid talent, is toxic and I'd trade him. Chemistry is EVERYTHING on a team & if Miller is mucking up the chemistry he needs to go.

Linus being snubbed doesn't shock me. My expectations are low regarding the league toward the Sens…whatever on the brass over there. The Sens are playing well, they just need to make the playoffs. Even if they won the cup, I believe Bettman would send out an office intern to present it.
I can't wait for petersson to get traded, tear it up, and for the canucks to miss the playoffs again and Miller to struggle like never before.

This idea that a skilled finesses player needs to toughen up… yeah sure in an ideal situation but in reality this was one of the major reasons for the rise of the "enforcer" role on teams, either to protect your non-barbarian players or to affect the game of the opponent's non-barbarian players. If you want to run a style and skillset like Elias has then make sure there's a few teammate that can protect him so he can work his magic.

It amazes EVERYONE how easy it is for fans to want more of a point-a-game player, thinking other teams will pay what we did to keep them. The media here in Vancouver continues to believe they know better than the professionals. Do you want to trade a young superstar who will hit his potential in his late thirties? I watched Miller's body language in the last couple of games. It's like he can't be bothered. When he makes mistakes (oh, and he does) I notice the other players just keep their mouths shut.

Something tells me that Miller is the kind of guy that thinks being introvert and not expressing emotions with uncontrolled outbursts, like slamming the stick or screaming profanities, is a sign of "not caring". Yes, Petey is not a super physical guy but I have never seen him "not caring". I bet he is the kind of guy that constantly critics himself, never satisfied and always in his own head about it. And he is 10x better defensively than Miller

I feel like jt miller needs some sense talked to him to tone it down cause yes i agree the hard passion and compete is what you need to win BUT…. it can be cancerous for players who cant take it well. Sure call them soft but in todays time top shelf said it himself times are changing and coaches and players adapt to other methods to get the most out of the player instead of just yelling. Like jt either tones it down or gets traded cause trading elias would be a huge mistake

Great Video, as usual, Mike. I hope that the rift between the 2 causes JT Miller to go to My Rangers. Especially, if Chris Kreider & JT Miller get to play together once more. Maybe, The Vancouver Canucks will be taking Mika Zibanejad (I like him, but, he definitely needs A Change Of Scenery). Let me know what you think
