A bit of misinformation about the about the Scott Wedgewood injury and rule. You brought up that the avs needed to touch or be in possession of the puck. By the rule they don't (continue reading the rule after the main paragraph). Refs "may" blow the play dead at any time if they think a serious injury has occurred and player safety is in jeopardy. Earlier in the game Dahlin was hit by Rantanen and the play was blown dead immediately when he went down. Sabres didn't have the puck. That play also took well less than the Wedgewood play. We are lucky there was no further injury.
For once someone acknowledges that the Avalanche aren't lacking depth.
