Phil Kessel was once the laughing stock of the NHL, but now he’s a legend. Learn about his incredible career and how he went from joke to champion in this video.
How come when teams trade future 1st and 2 round picks for players they don't scout garbage players then make their true first round Pic in the 3rd round after the teams get the garbage 😂
Although his diet and training was below average, I honestly thought the leafs had a shot at a cup when we got him. And what did the leafs do? Never got him a true no. 1 centre to play with, and sure enough he skips town and wins 2 with sidney crosby. Thats on the leafs.
The reason Toronto media & fans disliked Kessel is they're canadians & have no sense of humor & just full of jealousy. Tell me the last time a canadian team made the play offs let alone the stanley cup? Follow that up with when was the last time they won a stanley cup let alone didnt riot & destroy their own city win or lose.
"Laughing Stock" is a stretch, Phil has always been well-liked and he was usually the one doing the laughing. He's an awesome guy, he's hilarious, super fun to be around and a hell of a hockey player, and the only reason he was easy to poke fun at was because he was in on the joke.
So glad this guy was successful. Unpopular opinion: Phil was my favorite while in TO. I loved the guy. He and Dion were both decent. The rest of the team fell short on a regular basis.

Sadly missed by Pens fans. Phil Kessel did it his way. Whatever Phil is doing now, i'm sure he is living large. Thanks for the memories, Phil!
The time they gave him that shitty fkn car for last pick in that specialty game was fkn offensive.
NHL is a joke. Can’t stand the sport
I’m going to go have a couple of hotdogs right now in honor of Phil.
"Legend"
Phil the thrill. Looks like a character on family guy but can dance on the ice with the best of them.
Legend my ass!
does he look a bit like Hopper from Stranger Things?
to be fair, we laughed with him because he was a legend the entire time…he was known as the american crosby since juniors…

I'm the biggest Crosby fan, but Kessel was absolutely robbed of the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2016.
