Woody Paige says Gary Kubiak’s play calling in the first half of the New England Patriots – Denver Broncos game was terrible.
I’m blaming Gary Kubiak if the Denver Broncos lost the game last night to the New England Patriots.
You were grouchy about Gary Kubiak in the first half.
I didn’t like the play calling in the first half. Kubiak stuck with the running — which I did like on a snowy field. I do like it at home eating up clock so Tom Brady didn’t have time to have a lot of possessions like when Peyton was at the end of the game, you want to shorten the clock.
But, I would have blamed Kubiak if the Denver Broncos had lost because he went for the field goal.
Oh, you were not happy with that. I tried to tell you it was the right decision. He and Kubiak were marching hand in hand going yes, they are going to get the ball back and they are going to go ahead.
Yeah, yeah.
You didn’t believe it. Ye of little faith.
Except what you’re not taking into consideration on third down you do not pass the football. You’ve got your running game going, Mark. You’re laughing. You know that. You’re running the football.
The New England Patriots were without Dont’a Hightower. Did you see the differences in the stats running when Hightower was in the game and when he was out of the game?
That was a huge moment when Hightower left the game. You are correct about that.
The running stats went up here. You can bust the middle against the Patriots without Hightower at linebacker.
Third and three, third and goal, you run the football. Down to the one at least if you don’t score and then Osweiler picked up on a fourth and one — picked up two yards on a quarterback sneak.
You run the football two plays. After you throw the pass, now you’re committed to a field goal. You could have tied it right there. You could have won it with a field goal later. I would have blamed Kubiak.

Play calling on offense has been usually shaky early in the games this season. As the games progress, it gets better.
