I am so happy you talked about this game! Especially the breakdown of that behind the net play. I was watching this game, and when that goal when in I literally said out loud, "I hope Jimmy does a breakdown of that." Behind the net stuff is probably the trickiest thing for young and/or beginner goaltenders, it's just not as intuitive as when the puck is in front of you. Perfect thing to talk about on your channel. Merzlikins' failure to TEND THE GOAL cost Columbus the game. At that point in the game it was 2-1 Columbus with one minute to go in the second period, and the shots were 26-7 for CBJ. The Canucks were playing absolutely abysmally. Suddenly it's a tie game after 2, the Canucks came out in the third like an entirely different team and dominated for the final 20. The timing of mistakes is often more important than the mistake itself. Understanding the game situation, when to take risks and when to play conservative is so important… Not that there was ever a time that that play by Elvis would have made any sense whatsoever. Even the announcers said the only explanation they had was that Elvis was bored, having done so little to that point in the game, and so he decided to involve himself in the worst possible way. As a Canucks fan, I really appreciate Elvis handing us the game. But even still, when that happened I screamed at the TV, "TEND THE GOAL!" And then I laughed in disbelief and said, "When the Canucks win the game, it is 100% because of that play by Merzlikins."
Didn't expect this many views! Thank you all! NOTICE: THE WINDOWS CONCEPT WAS EXPLAINED QUICKLY, AND WINDOWS CAN BE PLAYED DIFFERENTLY DEPENDING ON HOW TALL YOU ARE AND THE SPECIFIC PLAY COMING AT YOU. I SUGGEST FULLY LOOKING INTO THIS ON OTHER CHANNELS WITH A SLOWER STYLE IF YOU WANT TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO PLAY WITH PUCKS BEHIND YOUR NET IN DEPTH. IF YALL WANT ME TO DO A SLOWER EDUCATIONAL VIDEO TO DIVE DEEP INTO THIS CONCEPT LET ME KNOW!!
Goal #2: Lanks isn't expecting Dejarnais to blow his coverage so bad and let the pass go right through him- sadly, based on what we have seen recently. he should be.
this is the channel hockey needs. hoping even casual fans who dont even play watch some of this content to maybe make the conversations around goaltending in the nhl less frustrating
You're going to have a lot of subs coming your way brother. Stay patient and keep up the hard work on the channel. As a longtime hockey player who's a complete nerd for responsibilities and technical advice of the game you're going to be popping up on a lot of recommended home pages as you did mine today and it's only going go up from here. 💯
I found your channel by pure accident and wow I am impressed! You know a ton about goalies and hockey. A goalie has to be the most nerve wracking position in pro sports, but it's all part of the sometimes heroism sometimes blundering of hockey. Happy Holidays and you're gonna get a lot of subscriptions keep up the good work!
