The Calgary Flames are entering the new year in a playoff spot. This is not where anyone expected them to be. Still too young for a big rebound to make the playoffs. If not for the big push at the start of the season where the Flames were #1 in the Western Conference they'd be in a dismal situation.
For too long the Flames have had slow starts with veteran teams only to come back and not allow a high pick in the draft and then fail in the playoffs.
Now we have a young team. I think we will stumble when playoffs aren't reasonably going to make the playoffs, and I project a seller team as the teams look to beef up for the Cup.
